Cet ouvrage a précisément pour but de situer les musulmans dans leur communauté concrète actuelle. Apres avoir exposé sommairement pour chaque pays ses composantes ethniques et démographiques et résumé son passé historique, nous nous sommes appliqué à donner de la situation religieuse présente une vue aussi exacte et détaillée, que possible, en marquant les progrès de la communauté, en précisant son organisation culturelle, les mouvements religieux (confréries, sectes, associations...) qui lʹaniment, la situation de lʹenseignement religieux, etc. -- Avant-propos (page 8).
