We tend to understand vulnerability in one of two ways: (1) the measure of everything that happens to us, or (2) that it legitimizes the current discourses and the halo of authority that fashion grants. However, we should think of vulnerability as being affectable both to and by others. In On Vulnerability: A Philosophical Anthropology Miquel Seguró Mendlewicz projects vulnerability as a condition of human life and the central concept to understand our existential position in the world. The philosophical journey is structured around two fundamental areas: the existential reality of vulnerability (its pathos) and the decision to integrate it and live it as an ethical and political reality (its ethos). Using the work of René Descartes, whose philosophy the author presents as conducive to meditating on vulnerability, Seguró Mendlewicz proposes a philosophical reflection that projects vulnerability as a condition of human life in all its magnitudes. Therefore, this book explores all facets of vulnerability, the real impact of what being vulnerable means, and the dangers implied when something becomes trendy.

El rótulo que define la línea argumental que el autor recorre en este libro, es el que corresponde al subtítulo: Sólo se puede ser, siendo con otros. La suficiencia o el déficit de ese ser con los otros, define la magnitud que alcanza la cualidad fundamental que el título designa: El interés en la vida. Se trata de inter-essere, de ser “entre” otros, y en esa ineludible realidad de la vida, que ocurrirá bien o mal, pero que inevitablemente ocurre, reside la forma buena o mala en que nos alcanzarán la cosas de la vida, aquellas que, sin poderlo evitar, nos importaron, nos importan, y nos importarán, siempre, mucho más de lo que a veces preferimos creer. Los capítulos de este volumen intentan mostrar, casi esquemáticamente, centrándose en las ramas, y dejando el follaje, que escapa a las posibilidades de un libro singular, no sólo las distintas vicisitudes, sino también las circunstancias del mundo en que vivimos, que nos conducen hacia las formas habituales en que la ineludible condición de ser entre otros, conviviendo, ingresa a veces en pesadumbres y carencias que son típicas de las épocas que una vida recorre. Contemplar desde ese ángulo las pesadumbres y carencias que suelen colocarnos “en los umbrales de la enfermedad”, no sólo nos ilumina “desde el alma” lo que muchas veces sucede en el cuerpo, también nos permite comprender cómo el alma se “conforma”, mejor o peor, resonando a su manera con el espíritu que impregna su entorno.

Es un compendio pluricultural artístico musical literario, que cuenta con pensamientos, poesías, canciones y cinco historias que cuento, en este trabajo literario, haciendo una recopilación de canciones escritas y difundidas en el trascurrir de mi vida, como músico, cantante, compositor, educador, abogado y defensor de los derechos humanos; Trabajo literario que pretendo difundir entre la población que de una u otra forma este vinculada con las artes y con la intención de desarrollar habilidades que alejen a nuestro adultos mayores del mal de Alzheimer ya que en este mismo trabajo literario trato de instar a realizar diferentes actividades que inducirían a un proceso de estimulación cognitiva; Aprendizaje este adquirido en mi desempeño como director de la fundación Alzheimer de Venezuela capitulo Zulia, desde donde estamos trabajando para llevar la información necesaria y conocer mas de esta enfermedad para difundir entre el mayor numero de personas posible; Quiero dejar en este apreciado trabajo la intención de compartir algunos saberes adquiridos y difundirlos en cualquier parte del mundo por intermedio del taller de estimulación cognitiva Alzheimer y familia el cual he estado difundiendo desde el 2010. que no es otra cosa que instar al colectivo a realizar estas actividades, agradeciendo con humildad el que se puedan convertir en multiplicador de esta noble intención de llevar luces y conocimientos al que las necesite, mil gracias. This book provides different perspectives on the concept of children’s rights, including policy, educational, and children’s perspectives. It examines how the crucial ideas of the Convention on the Rights of the Child are respected and implemented in 14 countries in five regions of the world. It looks at early childhood education, children’s participatory rights, and at how these rights are promoted and guaranteed in different countries. It explores the professional practice of education and its complexities, challenges and dilemmas, as well as the role of play, and of listening and participation. The book advocates children’s rights today, arguing for its vital importance, in the best interests of the children. In doing so, it furthers the understanding of children’s rights and spreads knowledge about the Convention, as a means of celebrating its 30th anniversary. The UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) comprises the potential to change the lives of children to the very best. It may exalt children from the position of marginalized citizens to the centre of policies all over the world. Even though the concept of children’s rights is omnipresent, the respect for children’s rights must be discussed. While the Convention brings the new perspective of children as citizens to the world, there are still challenges in its application. The book interrogates challenges in understanding and applying children rights and offers possible answers to these challenges. The ratification process itself, does not guarantee that children’s rights are respected. While all adults should take responsibility for implementing the UNCRC in everyday life, Early Childhood Education should give opportunities for children to learn and live their rights.
