Hierdurch sollen die folgenden expliziten Forschungsfragen beantwortet werden: Welche Ansätze zur Nutzung von KI zur KM existieren und welche Probleme adressieren sie? Welche KI-Techniken werden für welche Ansätze diskutiert? Wie ist der aktuelle Stand der Forschung der jeweiligen Ansätze, welche Ergebnisse wurden bisher erzielt? Lassen sich weitere Entwicklungen extrapolieren? Die Beantwortung dieser Forschungsfragen soll das Forschungsfeld rekonstruieren und einen Überblick über das untersuchte Forschungsfeld schaffen, der so zukünftiger Forschung in diesem Bereich ermöglicht auf der existierenden Forschung aufzubauen und von publizierten Erkenntnissen zu profitieren. Die Interaktion der Forschungsfelder Konzeptuelle Modellierung und Künstliche Intelligenz ist in ihrer Natur wechselseitig: Neben der Nutzung konzeptueller Modelle für die Konstruktion künstlicher Intelligenzen, werden auch Ansätze und Erkenntnisse aus dem Feld der KI-Forschung zur Unterstützung konzeptueller Modellierung diskutiert. Konkrete Beispiele hierfür sind das Erkennen wiederverwendbarer Modell-Komponenten, die automatisierte Prüfung der Validität der Modelle und das Erstellen eines automatisierten und personalisierten Feedbacks für Lernende und Modellierende. Während die Nutzung von Techniken der konzeptuellen Modellierung für die KI bereits in den 1980er Jahren in der Forschung und Literatur diskutiert wurde, erscheint die Forschung zur umgekehrten Beziehung, also der Nutzung von Konzepten der KI zur KM, vergleichsweise jung, wobei die Mehrzahl entsprechender Publikationen nach dem Jahr 2010 datiert.
