This volume is the proceedings of the 3rd IEEE International Conference on Knowledge Innovation and Invention 2020 (IEEE ICKII 2020). The conference was organized by the IEEE Tainan Section Sensors Council (IEEE TSSC), the International Institute of Knowledge Innovation and Invention (IIKII), and the National University of Kaohsiung, Taiwan, and held on August 21-23, 2020 in Kaohsiung.This volume of Knowledge Innovation on Design and Culture selected 95 excellent papers from the IEEE ICKII 2020 conference in the topics of Innovative Design and Cultural Research and Knowledge Innovation and Invention. This proceedings presents the research results based on the interdisciplinary collaboration of social sciences and engineering technologies by international networking in the academic and industrial fields.

The 3rd IEEE International Conference on Knowledge Innovation and Invention 2020 (IEEE ICKII 2020) is a collaboration among the National University of Kaohsiung, International Institute of Knowledge Innovation and Invention (IIKII), IEEE Tainan Section Sensors Council (IEEE TSSC), National Research Center for Disaster-free and Safety City Construction, Dong-A University, Korea Knowledge Information Technology Society, Korea Society of Computer Information, School of Mathematics and Information Engineering, Longyan University, and Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology to organize an interdisciplinary conference in the area of science and engineering. IEEE ICKII 2020 provides a unified communication platform for researchers in the topics of information technology, innovation design, communication science & engineering, industrial design, creative design, applied mathematics, computer science, electrical & electronic engineering, mechanical & automation engineering, green technology & architecture engineering, material science and other related fields to share their research findings and compare results, so as to establish further collaboration between them. Professional practice in the information, innovation, communication, and engineering fields are welcome to participate in IEEE ICKII 2020. This conference enables interdisciplinary collaboration of science and engineering technologists in the academic and industrial fields, as well as networking internationally.

The scope of this book is to map China’s city clusters and their individual directions for the national-level strategies in line with the 2060 carbon neutrality plan. Since China announced the carbon neutrality plan in autumn 2020, no study has looked at the role of city clusters in achieving this long-term plan. Hence, this study is believed to be the first attempt to explore this important topic from the city cluster perspective. It explores the challenges, opportunities, and directions of all 19 city clusters, allowing readers to have a clear picture of China’s historical and ongoing progress, as well as the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead. In a short time, China’s city clusters have helped boost regional economic development, infrastructure development, trade and business, and better urban–rural integration. With enhanced coordination of connection and transport networks in and between the city clusters, we see a growing number of initiatives beyond just the initial economic strategies. The dual approach of top-down policies and infrastructure systems and bottom-up governance and investments has helped China consider urban–rural development strategies and regional sustainable development. These factors are essential to be explored from the city cluster perspective and in line with China’s sustainable development and carbon neutrality directions. Hence, the book covers these points holistically, ensuring that regional planning and development are favored in the face of uneven urbanization trends. We anticipate this book to be a valuable resource for local governments and authorities, urban planners and practitioners, developers, and urban researchers. While the focus is on China’s city clusters, we believe there are similar examples elsewhere. Hence, lessons learnt from this book could apply to other countries, regions, and subregions. Lastly, the book aims to put regional sustainable development at the heart of longer-term strategies and plans, such as the case of China’s carbon neutrality plan.

This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 4th International Conference on Innovative Technologies and Learning, ICITL 2021, held in November/December 2021. Due to COVID-19 pandemic the conference was held virtually. The 59 full papers presented together with 2 short papers were carefully reviewed and selected from 110 submissions. These proceedings represent the work of contributors to the 24th European Conference on Knowledge Management (ECKM 2023), hosted by Iscte – Instituto Universitário de Lisboa, Portugal on 7-8 September 2023. The Conference Chair is Prof Florinda Matos, and the Programme Chair is Prof Álvaro Rosa, both from Iscte Business School, Iscte – Instituto Universitário de Lisboa, Portugal. ECKM is now a well-established event on the academic research calendar and now in its 24th year the key aim remains the opportunity for participants to share ideas and meet the people who hold them. The scope of papers will ensure an interesting two days. The subjects covered illustrate the wide range of topics that fall into this important and ever-growing area of research. The opening keynote presentation is given by Professor Leif Edvinsson, on the topic of Intellectual Capital as a Missed Value. The second day of the conference will open with an address by Professor Noboru Konno from Tama Graduate School and Keio University, Japan who will talk about Society 5.0, Knowledge and Conceptual Capability, and Professor Jay Liebowitz, who will talk about Digital Transformation for the University of the Future. With an initial submission of 350 abstracts, after the double blind, peer review process there are 184 Academic research papers, 11 PhD research papers, 1 Masters Research paper, 4 Non-Academic papers and 11 work-in-progress papers published in these Conference Proceedings. The International Institute of Knowledge Innovation and Invention (IIKII, http://www.iikii.org) promotes the exchange of innovations and inventions and establishes a communication platform for international innovations and research. In 2019, IIKII cooperates with the IEEE Tainan Section Sensors Council to hold IEEE conferences, such as IEEE ICIASE 2019, IEEE ECBIOS 2019, IEEE ICKII 2019, ICUSA-GAME 2019, and IEEE ECICE 2019. This Special Issue, entitled "Selected Papers from IIKII 2019 conferences", aims to showcase outstanding papers from IIKII 2019 conferences, including symmetry in physics, chemistry, biology, mathematics, and computer science, etc. It selected 21 outstanding papers from 750 papers presented in IIKII 2019 conferences on the topic of symmetry. The main goals of this Special Issue are to encourage scientists to publish their experimental and theoretical results in as much detail as possible, and to discover new scientific knowledge relevant to the topic of symmetry.
