The author's lineage comes through John Justus, Sr. (1741-1829). His two sons, Isaac Justis (1794-1886) born in S. Carolina, married Sara (Polly) Lyda, and John Justis, Jr. (1782-1842) born in S. Carolina and married Elizabeth Thomas (1797-1852), are both direct line ancestors of the author.
