Forget the ultralight, uncomfortable bikes, flashy jerseys, clunky shoes that clip onto tiny pedals, the grinding out of endless miles. Instead, ride like you did when you were a kid—just get on your bike and discover the pure joy of riding it. A reformed racer who’s commuted by bike every day since 1980, whose writings and opinions appear in major bicycling and outdoor magazines, and whose company, Rivendell Bicycle Works, makes bikes for riders ready to opt out of a culture overrun by racing, Grant Petersen shares a lifetime of unexpected facts, controversial opinions, expert techniques, and his own maverick philosophy. A true-adventure, coming-of-age tale set in the exhilarating first wave of Beatlemania … It’s 1964, and 16-year-old Janice is struggling in a grim foster home in Cleveland when she falls suddenly, deeply in love … with the Beatles. They and their music stir in her an ecstatic new sense of freedom. With a friend, she hatches a bold plan to escape their dreary lives and run away to London to meet the Fab Four. On their own for the first time—in “Beatleland”—they explore a new city, a new culture, and a new life, visiting the hippest clubs of Soho, meeting some nice English boys, hitchhiking to Liverpool … But unbeknownst to them, the runaways have become international news—and a hunt is on. Adventure and newfound freedom end abruptly when Janice is apprehended by London police and hauled home to Cleveland and an unforgiving juvenile justice system. Warned by responsible adults to put it all behind her, she doesn’t speak of her extraordinary adventure for more than fifty years. In this memoir, she looks back with fresh insight on the heady early days of Beatlemania and an era in America when young women exercising some control over their lives presented a serious threat to adult society.

It's Been One Hell of a Ride is a pretty sarcastic, totally true, and comical ride. A two-part book started as a journal of our family story to my Timm men. It's a book on how we began this ride. How we dealt with many life hiccups with humor. How we picked our battles and learned to breathe through the struggles. How we enjoyed the little things. Also, to remember the good times, remember the bad times, and to learn from it and move on. Keep trucking as this is your ride and ultimately up to you to make it the best ride it can be! In this creating process, it dawned on me that this book is not just for us but also for others. It's for all pondering their place on the path. It reassures all panickers this isn't going the way it was planned and that's okay. You just let the ride take you, learn to love it, and find the humor in it, as the grass really isn't greener over here or there. I'm sure many of you can relate that our rides have bumpy paths, but we always have the option to steer it in a different direction.

“Who are we and why are we here?” “Is life an illusion and are we mere characters in this movie we call life?” “What are the themes and patterns of your life story?" “What beliefs have shaped your life, and are you still holding on to them?” These are some of the questions to which Jocelyne Grzela has spent her life looking for answers. Life is Just a Ride! is the author's journey of searching for the Truth. Many of us have been searching for answers, especially in today’s world. We’re all trying to make sense of it all, and it can be confusing and overwhelming. This book brings together methodologies and practical tools that have been there for us since we incarnated, but may have forgotten. When we arrive in this world, many tools are made available to us to guide us as we set out on our journey. Once we find these tools, and use them to connect the pieces, we begin to create a map to help us see through the illusion of the ego in order to understand who we are, and what we’re doing here. We are provided with what we need to begin enjoying the game we have chosen to partake in. Through her own strenuous challenges of loss, divorce, trauma, and a brush with death, the author demonstrates how to stop taking life so seriously, and enjoy the ride. First you will learn how to recognize the patterns that keep showing up in your life, which will lead you to unmask what beliefs you are still holding on to, that continue shaping your life. Then you’ll learn the difference between desiring and allowing, and what the purpose of karma is really all about. This path will take you from one of self-improvement to one of self-acceptance. Lastly, you’ll learn how to see through the game of the ego by using the tools and exercises provided, and develop a clear map of your true identity and purpose in this life story. This inspirational memoir is meant to encourage you to find your own truth, to help you realize that you have a choice to live in fear, or live free as you were meant to be. The practical information and suggestions provided will help you remember who you are, and demonstrate that you can start over at any age, and live a life filled with joy and self-acceptance, a true heaven on earth.
