“... You will see a young donkey tied there that no one has ever ridden.” Bestselling author Anthony DeStefano begins his creative telling of the beloved Bible story of Christ’s triumphant entry by introducing the young donkey who has yet to realize his important mission. The lowly creature believes he can do nothing noble, but that’s before he meets the Master... Then Jesus said to the donkey, “It’s time that you knew About the great thing That you’re destined to do...” He hears the sad donkey cry, “Just leave me alone and cast me aside. I’m just a poor donkey that no one can ride.” Richard Cowdrey’s colorful illustrations pair beautifully with Anthony’s charming rhymes. Together, they bring this timeless story of the donkey who carries Jesus into Jerusalem to a joyful finish. While especially appropriate as an Easter gift, this year-round story is for all time and for young and old alike.

A favorite Easter hardcover now available in paperback. Here is the story of the little colt who carried Jesus on his triumphant entry into Jerusalem. Told from the perspective of the colt, the story begins with Mama Colt explaining who Jesus is, then moves through Jesus' triumphant entry into Jerusalem amid the cheering throngs of his followers. While often included as part of the Easter story, this is a unique approach to the story of Palm Sunday. Ages 4-8.

Jesus instructs the disciples to fetch a donkey colt for him to ride in to Jerusalem at the time of Passover. The donkey, Jonas, is at first anxious about the assignment, but then realizes the important task he has been chosen to perform. Jonas is a funny character with a stubborn streak. Jesus didn't ride in to Jerusalem on a white stallion, but an ordinary donkey and a colt at that. It is my hope that this book will illustrate that God can use anyone that has a willing heart. I hope it will also encourage a closer look at the possible spiritual indications of why Jesus chose a donkey colt. I have always loved books, especially children's books. Being a wife, mother, and a teacher there was never much time to entertain the thought of actually writing one. For some time now that thought kept popping in my head. Stepping out on faith and a lot of prayer I decided to put those thoughts into action. My husband, Harold, is a former pastor. Thanks to him for his support, for listening to all the times the story line changed and for being a walking Bible encyclopedia. We have two grown children and nine grandchildren to whom I can accredit this book idea. Thanks to a friend, Alice Johnson, who has always given positive encouragement.
