Each year, thousands of visitors make their way to Iona and many are changed by their time on this small Hebridean island which has been a powerful spiritual centre over the centuries. The Iona Community believes that we are brought to Iona not to be changed into 'religious' people, but rather to be made more fully human. Our common life - including our services - is directed to that end.

This songbook is a companion to the Iona Abbey Worship Book, giving access to the musical aspect of services in the Abbey. Worship is a means of our being moved, challenged, encouraged and changed - and singing together is a vital part of this.

Fig Trees and Furnaces, based on the biblical books from Esther to Maccabees, is a collection of stories, scripts and reflections written by Iona Community members, associates, friends and others. It is a companion volume to Olives and Obligations, which is based on the books from Genesis to Nehemiah.
