Born on March 19, 1955, in Idar-Oberstein, West Germany, Willis’s family returned to New Jersey when he was two years old. After high school, he worked as a security guard and private investigator before moving to New York City to pursue an acting career. He found success in the off-Broadway theater and eventually landed his breakout role as detective David Addison Jr. in the TV series Moonlighting (1985-1989). Willis’s film career took off in the late 1980s with his starring role as John McClane in the blockbuster Die Hard (1988). He went on to star in numerous other action movies, often displaying his trademark dry wit and tough-guy persona. He has received critical acclaim for his dramatic work as well, including his role as a troubled Vietnam veteran in Norman Jewison’s In Country (1989) and his Golden Globe-winning turn as an alcoholic writer in The Sixth Sense (1999). Willis has also dabbled in music, releasing several albums and performing with his band, The Accelerators. Today, he continues to act and produce films while also remaining a popular cultural figure. Overall Bruce Willis has carved out one of the most successful careers in Hollywood. With a career spanning over four decades, Willis has starred in over 70 films, with many of his iconic roles now considered to be among the best action movies ever made. His ability to blend tough guy characteristics with a charming wit and intelligent humor has kept audiences both entertained and on the edge of their seats for years. In addition to his film work, Willis has also demonstrated his abilities as a producer, co-founding the production company Cheyenne Enterprises in 2000. He has also made occasional appearances on television and stage while indulging his passions for wine and music. Willis remains a pop culture icon and a beloved Hollywood star whose acting achievements are appreciated both in and outside of the movie industry.

Introducing English Grammar introduces readers to the methodology and terminology needed to analyse English sentences. The approach taken is in line with current research in grammar, a particular advantage for students who may go on to study syntax in more depth. All the examples and exercises use real language taken from both standard and non-standard geographical areas and dialects, and include excerpts from Australian and British newspaper articles. Students are encouraged to think about the terminology as a tool kit for studying language and to test what can and cannot be described using these tools. This new edition has been fully updated and features: an expanded introduction; new texts and exercises that include data from social media; revised material on 'Grammar at work' and 'English worldwide'; more suggestions for further reading at the end of the book; updated online resources with extensive further reading and answers to the exercises, which can be found at https://www.routledge.com/9781138635319. Written for readers with no previous experience of grammatical analysis, Introducing English Grammar is suited to anyone beginning a study of linguistics, English language or speech pathology, as well as to students whose interests are primarily literary but who need a better understanding of the structure of English.

Thoughtrave is the immediate and most detailed archive of Lady Gaga's emotional, intellectual, philosophical, and spiritual evolution, a reclaiming of her art (and humanity) from within the center of her celebrity during one of the most difficult transitions of her career: Summer 2013-Fall 2014. Lady Gaga: I don't like being used to make money. I feel sad when I am overworked and that I just become a money making machine and that my passion and my creativity take a backseat. That makes me unhappy. So, what did I do? I started to say no. Not doing that. I don't want to do that. I'm not taking that picture. Not going to that event. Not standing by that because that's not what I stand for. Thoughtrave marks perhaps the most important (and unconditional, unpublished, unencumbered) insights into the music industry, the personal battles that accompanied her transition from Stefani to Gaga. "It's one of those rare moments in life when you ask a question of someone you've admired for many years and receive the most honest of answers leading both people into a relationship that was and remains one of the most important of my life," says Baum, a professor, producer, composer, writer, editor, and activist for adjunct professors. As Baum explains to Stefani in one of the many interviews published here for the first time, Robert Craig Baum: It's uncanny for me to look back at 2008-2011 - when I was intensely meditating on the problem "Why is there any being at all?" - to find evidence of your intervention here with me...to find you, back then...before I knew you. It was almost as if I was playing the Bruce Willis character in Twelve Monkeys, overshooting my mark in time/space, aiming for this particular conversation but speaking through Ereignis (life gives) to a moment I (and many others) call "headphones on." As George Elerick writes in his Introduction to the book, "In Hand-to-Hand Battle for the Users," "The book you hold in your hands easily falls into the category of a transgression. It's as though we are breaking into somewhere we are not meant to be (like a rave) and are invited into the mind of one of today's musical geniuses. Maybe we can even equivocate the experience to that of being a member of the paparazzi. Their whole mode of employment is based on breaking social codes and entering into the lives of everyday-people-turned-rock-stars. That's what this book is, a disruptive invitation to break into the life and mind of Lady Gaga, the person, not just the persona."

Celebrate the legacy of Bruce Willis's career in a book the Los Angeles Times calls "a thoughtful guide." On a nondescript Wednesday morning in the waning days of March 2023, one of the biggest movie stars on the planet called it quits. No press conference had been organized, the Hollywood trades received no advance notice, and there was a conspicuous lack of the fanfare that usually accompanies such bombshell announcements. Instead, the news that Bruce Willis was retiring from acting came in a simple statement on his ex-wife Demi Moore’s Instagram page—along with the tragic news that Willis was suffering from aphasia, a cognitive disorder that subsequently worsened to become frontotemporal dementia. It was a sad conclusion to the storied career of a man who had at one point been the highest-paid actor in Hollywood. That career is the subject of Sean O’Connell’s definitive survey of Bruce Willis the actor, the cultural icon, and the man. Here, O’Connell compiles exclusive, original interviews with directors who have worked with Willis, as well as film critics and journalists who have analyzed his career, into a celebratory compendium. It also features the author’s analysis of Willis’s films, his career arc, and the industry that made him a star. And it includes capsule reviews of every Bruce Willis film, making this a complete handbook to a true American original.
