This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 8th Ibero-American Conference on Artificial Intelligence, IBERAMIA 2002, held in Seville, Spain, in November 2002. The 97 revised full papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from a total of 345 submissions. The papers are organized in topical sections on knowledge representation and reasoning, machine learning, uncertainty and fuzzy systems, genetic algorithms, neural nets, distributed artificial intelligence and multi-agent systems, natural language processing, intelligent tutoring systems, control and real time, robotics, and computer vision.

Las regiones semiáridas tienen problemas de escasez de agua, agravados por la contaminación. Este libro recoge experiencias de expertos en el dominio de la gestión de las aguas en regiones áridas y semiáridas, con ejemplos sobre Libia o el SW de Estados Unidos. Se analizan la problemática almeriense y el ejemplo paradigmático del abastecimiento a Murcia. La simulación numérica de la contaminación de acuíferos, o un interesante enfoque del agua en la minería, completan una obra de consulta obligada para los especialistas.

Over the years, the construction of models has played an important part in the discovery and dissemination of knowledge. The study of problems involving the coupling of several systems has been widely explored, essentially in the function of the change of constructive characteristics of machines and structures. Accordingly, vibrating (oscillatory) processes can be divided into the following types: free, forced, parametric, and self-excited oscillations. Furthermore, two or more oscillations can interact in the same oscillatory system. This book provides a comprehensive overview of oscillators and their applications. It includes eight chapters organized into three sections “MEMS and NEMS”, “Vibrations” and “Modeling”.
