In this IBM® Redpaper publication, we focus on the importancequality. This paper explains how this testing can be achieved only in an effective and efficient way by autenable such automation. We specifically focus on Galasa. Galasa is an open-source deep integration test framework for hybrid cloud applications that allows teams to automate tests to run as part of a DevOps pipeline. Galasa was built as an integration test framework to test applications spanning multiple platforms as part of a hybrid multi-cloud. It also integrates all the test tools that are needed to test such an application. This feature gives you a single test catalog, single endpoint to run tests and a single UI to review the reports from those tests. These enterprise-level features are key to unlocking the value of your automation and allow you to deliver your DevOps journey.

To make better informed business decisions, better serve clients, and increase operational efficiencies, you must be aware of changes to key data as they occur. In addition, you must enable the immediate delivery of this information to the people and processes that need to act upon it. This ability to sense and respond to data changes is fundamental to dynamic warehousing, master data management, and many other key initiatives. A major challenge in providing this type of environment is determining how to tie all the independent systems together and process the immense data flow requirements. IBM® InfoSphere® Change Data Capture (InfoSphere CDC) can respond to that challenge, providing programming-free data integration, and eliminating redundant data transfer, to minimize the impact on production systems. In this IBM Redbooks® publication, we show you examples of how InfoSphere CDC can be used to implement integrated systems, to keep those systems updated immediately as changes occur, and to use your existing infrastructure and scale up as your workload grows. InfoSphere CDC can also enhance your investment in other software, such as IBM DataStage® and IBM QualityStage®, IBM InfoSphere Warehouse, and IBM InfoSphere Master Data Management Server, enabling real-time and event-driven processes. Enable the integration of your critical data and make it immediately available as your business needs it.

From Africa to Asia and Latin America, the era of climate wars has begun. Extreme weather is breeding banditry, humanitarian crisis, and state failure. In Tropic of Chaos, investigative journalist Christian Parenti travels along the front lines of this gathering catastrophe--the belt of economically and politically battered postcolonial nations and war zones girding the planet's midlatitudes. Here he finds failed states amid climatic disasters. But he also reveals the unsettling presence of Western military forces and explains how they see an opportunity in the crisis to prepare for open-ended global counterinsurgency. Parenti argues that this incipient "climate fascism" -- a political hardening of wealthy states-- is bound to fail. The struggling states of the developing world cannot be allowed to collapse, as they will take other nations down as well. Instead, we must work to meet the challenge of climate-driven violence with a very different set of sustainable economic and development policies.

This IBM® Redpaper® publication provides a broad understanding of a new architecture of the IBM Power® E1080 (also known as the Power E1080) server that supports IBM AIX®, IBM i, and selected distributions of Linux operating systems. The objective of this paper is to introduce the Power E1080, the most powerful and scalable server of the IBM Power portfolio, and its offerings and relevant functions: Designed to support up to four system nodes and up to 240 IBM Power10TM processor cores The Power E1080 can be initially ordered with a single system node or two system nodes configuration, which provides up to 60 Power10 processor cores with a single node configuration or up to 120 Power10 processor cores with a two system nodes configuration. More support for a three or four system nodes configuration is to be added on December 10, 2021, which provides support for up to 240 Power10 processor cores with a full combined four system nodes server. Designed to supports up to 64 TB memory The Power E1080 can be initially ordered with the total memory RAM capacity up to 8 TB. More support is to be added on December 10, 2021 to support up to 64 TB in a full combined four system nodes server. Designed to support up to 32 Peripheral Component Interconnect® (PCIe) Gen 5 slots in a full combined four system nodes server and up to 192 PCIe Gen 3 slots with expansion I/O drawers The Power E1080 supports initially a maximum of two system nodes; therefore, up to 16 PCIe Gen 5 slots, and up to 96 PCIe Gen 3 slots with expansion I/O drawer. More support is to be added on December 10, 2021, to support up to 192 PCIe Gen 3 slots with expansion I/O drawers. Up to over 4,000 directly attached serial-attached SCSI (SAS) disks or solid-state drives (SSDs) Up to 1,000 virtual machines (VMs) with logical partitions (LPARs) per system System control unit, providing redundant system master Flexible Service Processor (FSP) Supports IBM Power System Private Cloud Solution with Dynamic Capacity This publication is for professionals who want to acquire a better understanding of Power servers. The intended audience includes the following roles: Customers Sales and marketing professionals Technical support professionals IBM Business Partners Independent software vendors (ISVs) This paper does not replace the current marketing materials and configuration tools. This IBM® Redbooks® publication provides information about the new Java virtual machine (JVM) server technology in IBM CICS® Transaction Server for z/OS® V4.2. We begin by outlining the many advantages of its multi-threaded operation over the pooled JVM function of earlier releases. The Open Services Gateway initiative (OSGi) is described and we highlight the benefits OSGi brings to both development and deployment. Details are then provided about how to configure and use the new JVM server environment. Examples are included of the deployment process, which takes a Java application from the workstation Eclipse integrated development environment (IDE) with the IBM CICS Explorer® software development kit (SDK) plug-in, through the various stages up to execution in a stand-alone CICS region and an IBM CICSPlex® environment. The book continues with a comparison between traditional CICS programming, and CICS programming from Java. As a result, the main functional areas of the Java class library for CICS (JCICS) application programming interface (API) are extensively reviewed. Further chapters are provided to demonstrate interaction with structured data such as copybooks, and how to access relational databases by using Java Database Connectivity (JDBC) and Structured Query Language for Java (SQLJ). Finally, we devote a chapter to the migration of applications from the pooled JVM model to the new JVM server run time.
