The collection contains subject files, administrative files, data and final reports of surveys, including Senior Surveys, Twelve College Comparisons, and surveys about salary, faculty, programs, and alumni. In general, the collection contains reports of surveys done on a campus-wide basis. Reports and research done for individual departments or programs are held by the program.

In the course of its work, Institutional Research responds to inquiries from the many state and federal agencies. Much of this collection is comprised of reports, often on standardized forms, to these agencies. Also included are the SSHE program reviews. These reviews are conducted and written by the faculty of those programs. Each deparment conducts one of these every five years. The reviews are staggered so that by the end of the five years each department has written its program review.
