The idea for this book evolved from our first book infection Control in the Hearing Aid Clinic which was written for dispensing audiologists, other dispensing professionals, andgraduatee students with the intention of addressing the role of infection control and providing practical application of infection control procedures in the hearing aid clinic. Certainly, the scope of practice in audiology extends well beyond hearing aid dispensement and is represented by an expansive continuum of services that are necessary to meet the diagnostic and rehabilitative needs of individuals with auditory and vestibular disorders. As with our first book, the goal of this book is to provide audiologists and audiology students with information on fundamental concepts in the area of infectious disease in the audiology clinic. While some information pertaining to infectious disease and regulatory agencies is standard and has not changed from the first book. The rest of the information most relevant to the audiology clinic. As health care providers, audiologists not only focus on the diagnostic and rehabilitative needs of patients, but on other matters that influencee what may be in the best interest of their patients.
