Inclusive Aims: Rhetoric’s Role in Reproductive Justice engages with fraught reproductive realities—past, present, and future—and offers analysis and advice for coalitional alliance and strategy building. For those who legitimately value the needs, desires, and safety of reproducing people, recent years have demonstrated that in the United States especially, reproductive matters represent not only contestation but extreme precarity. Considering such pressing exigencies, those pursuing just reproductive politics can benefit from thinking about such events and actions rhetorically, and not in isolation but as interconnected and connected to larger webs of action. The collection features a range of activist-scholars and scholar-activists, each of whom shares and/or interrogates stories of reproductive in/justice. Its topics range from discourse practices related to telehealth, birthing doula care, and negligence due to systemic racism and transphobia to representations of vasectomy, strategies for political solidarity, and considerations for navigating the challenges of activist interventions. The project mindfully infuses insights from thought-traditions of reproductive justice activists and scholars outside of rhetoric. Through its varied chapters, the collection demonstrates how rhetorics of reproductive politics function as a means by which various injustices are illuminated and addressed. Contributors include Zachary Beare, Fabiola Carrión, Hannah Dudley-Shotwell, Natalie Fixmer-Oraiz, Meta Henty, Adele N. Nichols, Sheri Rysdam, Shui-yin Sharon Yam, Michelle C. Smith, Melissa Stone, Jill Swiencicki, Jenna Vinson, and James D. Warwood.

An invaluable resource for designing communities that accommodate social diversity and provide equitable opportunities for all residents. Inclusive Housing focuses on housing that provides access to people with disabilities while benefiting all residents and that incorporates inclusive design practices into neighborhood and housing designs without compromising other important design goals. Emphasizing urban patterns of neighborhood development, the practices outlined here are useful for application to all kinds of housing in all types of neighborhoods. The book addresses trends that have widespread significance in the residential construction market and demonstrates that accessible housing design is compatible with the goals of developing livable and healthy neighborhoods, reducing urban sprawl, reducing reliance on fossil fuels, and ensuring that the benefits of thoughtful urban design are equitably distributed. Inclusive Housing recognizes that to achieve the goals of urbanism, we must consider the total picture. The house must fit on the lot; the lot must fit in the block; and the block must fit with the character of the neighborhood. Its context-sensitive approach uses examples that cover a wide range of housing types, styles, and development densities. Rather than present stock solutions that ignore the context of real projects and design goals, it explores how accessibility can be achieved in different types of neighborhoods and housing forms, all with the goal of achieving high-quality urban places.

First Published in 2001. An inclusive education is one which seeks to respond to individual differences through an entitlement of all learners to common curricula. (Armstrong and Barton 2000). This book attempts to respond to this definition of inclusion by examining the principles of the literacy curriculum and a range of pedagogic practices. The complex relationships between inclusion, literacy and learning are acknowledged and it is argued that quality learning in language and literacy can work towards increased equity and involvement within the classroom community.
