In this issue of Radiologic Clinics, guest editor Dr. Hillary W. Garner brings her considerable expertise to the topic of Imaging of Bone and Soft Tissue Tumors and Mimickers. Top experts provide timely articles on the imaging findings and other relevant clinical information of frequently encountered benign and malignant tumors of bone and soft tissue, in addition to separate reviews on common and potentially confusing tumor mimics. In addition, orthopaedic oncologists have contributed valuable perspectives on how they incorporate imaging information into their patient care plans. Contains 11 relevant, practice-oriented topics including bone tumors: what the oncology team wants to know; bone tumors: imaging features of common and rare benign entities; bone tumors: common mimickers; soft tissue tumors: what the oncology team wants to know; soft tissue tumors: common mimickers; bone and soft tissue tumors: horizons in radiomics and artificial intelligence; and more. Provides in-depth clinical reviews on imaging of bone and soft tissue tumors and mimickers, offering actionable insights for clinical practice. Presents the latest information on this timely, focused topic under the leadership of experienced editors in the field. Authors synthesize and distill the latest research and practice guidelines to create clinically significant, topic-based reviews.

This issue of Radiologic Clinics updates the reader with the latest clinical information on the imaging of bone and soft-tissue tumors. An article on how to approach patients with bone lesions leads off the issue followed by reviews of analysis of solitary lesions of bone, imaging of benign bone tumors, imaging of primary malignant bone tumors, and imaging of hematopoietic tumors and metastases involving bone. Soft tissue tumors are also reviewed in articles from the clinician's perspective and with the use of MRI. The use of MRI in the imaging of children with soft tissue masses is also covered. Articles on mimics of bone and soft tissue tumors, biopsy and intervention, post-therapy imaging, and advanced MRI techniques round out the issue.

Magnetic resonance imaging has already become a most valuable imaging modality in the diagnostic work-up of musculoskeletal neoplasms. While high accuracy of MRI for staging purposes has been proven, we will focus in this monograph on the characterization of primary bone and soft tissue tumors by MRI. The major purpose of this monograph is to provide an atlas of magnetic resonance features of primary bone and soft tissue tumors for radiologists, orthopedic surgeons and physiotherapists. The results presented are based on investigations of 94 primary bone and soft tissue tumors and mimicking conditions by magnetic resonance imaging. Although the scale of the material allows for statistical handling, the number of patients per subgroup is too small to come to definite conclusions. We will therefore limit ourselves to the description of and comments on a great number of cases to illustrate the diagnostic potential of this new imaging modality. We would like to thank the anonymous cooperators: referring clinicians, pathologists, nurses, technicians and secretaries whose help enabled us to present this monograph. We would also like to express our gratitude to the firms Siemens AG and Schering AG for technical support.

Based on a vast number of cases seen at the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology and the Mayo Clinic, this volume is a comprehensive reference on the radiologic evaluation of soft tissue tumors. The book covers the entire spectrum of soft tissue pathologies, with over 1,400 images showing common and atypical appearances. The authors discuss the relative utility of all imaging modalities in assessing each lesion. This edition features expanded coverage of masses that mimic tumors, more illustrations of each lesion, and information on recently described tumors. Coverage of each lesion begins with boxed summaries of key clinical and radiologic points and charts showing anatomic locations and patient demographics.
