The tragedy of HIV/AIDS in Africa has let several million orphans in Ethiopia, many of whom face an impoverished and desperate life on the streets, a life defined by hunger, lonliness, fear and despair. Without help, many street children don’t survive.

Nadina works as a journalist on a private television in her country. She writes a series of e-mails to her father, who passed on to the other world during a war that tore apart her beloved nation. She relates her story of resilience, perseverance, and courage after a breakthrough is achieved in communication and people from this world are able to communicate with other people in the other world of the living dead. She expresses her struggles in taking care of her siblings. Technically, Nadina becomes the father of her siblings as she cares for each and every aspect of their needs. The father, who is the last to die, leaves the five children still in school. Nadina works her socks off to feed these children, to pay for their school fees, and to see them become independent. Nadina criticises some political, economic, and social structures of her country (no name is given, but it is an allegory of African states) and calls for an end to rampant poverty, wars, and conflicts. Despite being outspoken and critical of the government, Nadina is appointed minister of information. With this new status, her dream to fight poverty and bring about peace has just begun.

Guardianship is golden, in more ways than one. It is more supreme than a power of attorney. A power of attorney seems to be the correct way to assure your end of life accountings are in order. Majority of people complete the preparation for when their time comes. Some of us know little about guardianship. You either learn from others or find yourself in an actual unfortunate experience. Power of Attorney and guardianship are similar; someone has control. However, there is one huge difference if you have siblings and sometimes other family members in the picture. Once they are plagued with greed, they can change EVERYTHING. Our experience is a good example.

This book is a siblings journey from the sudden loss of her brother due to suicide and her healing journey through to her new 'norm' in life. It is the story of a family of five that in a sudden instant became four and how we fought to keep old traditions alive while being forced to find and create new ones. The book contains poetry and tools of healing that have enabled me to slowly move forward in these uncharted waters of sibling survival.
