Hydrodynamics of High-Speed Marine Vehicles, first published in 2006, discusses the three main categories of high-speed marine vehicles - vessels supported by submerged hulls, air cushions or foils. Registered as a professional engineer in two states, Blount is a fellow of both SNAME and RINA. He has served as Head of the Department of the U.S. Navy's Combatant Craft Engineering Department and also was employed at the David Taylor Model Basin. The catamaran has become the vessel of choice for the majority of high speed ferry operators worldwide.
