Author Rebecca Waites grew up in a violent home in the midst of a violent society. Belfast in the 1970s was a rough place, and it changed the way she saw the world forever. Silent No More offers an authentic account of the life of a working-class Belfast woman, following Waites from her earliest beginnings through middle age and on to her years as a grandmother. She shares how and why she survived the turmoil that marred her early life, dealing her abusive father and living through the Troubles in Northern Ireland. Her marriage to a sadistic, manipulative man brought further problems for her and her children, having lasting effects on their relationships. She began writing for her children, now adults, to help them understand what her history had been like from her perspective, and now she hopes her story may help others in similar circumstances who feel helpless and alone. The memoir presents the life story of a woman who lived through a violent and turbulent time in the midst of an abusive upbringing and yet found peace and triumph in her own way.

This ethnographic exploration of contemporary spaces of homelessness takes an expanded view of homeless space, threading together experiences of organizational spaces, routes taken through the city and the occupation of public space. Through engaging with participants' accounts of movement and place, the book argues that young homeless people become fixed in mobility, a condition that impacts on both everyday life and possible futures. Based on an innovative multi-method study of a day centre in London for young homeless people, the book contextualizes spaces of homelessness within the social relations and flows of people that produce the world city. The book considers how the biographical and everyday trajectories of young homeless people intersect with place attachments and forms of governance to produce urban homeless spaces. It provides a new angle on the city made by movement, foregrounding the impact of mobilities shaped by loss, violence and the search for opportunity. The book draws on mental maps, photography, interviews and observation in order to produce an engaging and rich ethnographic account of young homeless people in the city.

Suddenly you're homeless - what's the worst that can happen? Here's my year of No Fixed Address spent with crazies, druggies, con men, prostitutes and a surprising number of really decent people. Be prepared - I wasn't. An unwanted divorce led to the loss of my house and business, bringing on stress, depression, low self-esteem and, I'm ashamed to say, heavy drinking. In that state finding a solution to the multiple problems in my life was more than I could handle. When you are down, your focus is just getting through each day. I had naively believed that the welfare society would offer broad help; what I painfully discovered was that there is a multi-stage filtering with hurdles through which you have to navigate blindfold - there is no guide which tells you what to expect. I hope that in some measure my book offers that. But for all the feelings of fear, inadequacy and hopelessness there were some compensations. I met a rich array of people, out-and-out crazies, druggies, smart crooks, devious prostitutes and heard some amazing stories. And to my great surprise a number of these individuals were kind, friendly and helpful. The whole experience changed my politics and view of the world. Don't think homelessness could not happen to you, it can to anybody.

The Once In A Lifetime tells a non-linear story of two perennially single characters, Alex and Carol, living parallel lives, and looking for love. Set in Singapore, Bangkok, Thailand and Perth, Australia, both characters navigate the arduous dating world, often with hilarious, lewd and downright filthy encounters. Alex is still hurting after being ghosted by the love of his life, a Ukrainian prostitute he met online, Lyna. Lyna whose mum has taken ill in Lviv, goes home to care for her and disappears from his life. Meanwhile Carol, charges through the dreary bleak dating landscape and tries to find him in the most unusual and sometimes, hopeless of places. She ends up attracting strangely controlling characters - office executives with mommy issues, a personal trainer with a micro penis and a gym rat who loses control too easily. We see Carol trawling through dive bars and a male host club, gyms, smoking corners, and the most austere place of all, Tinder to alleviate her loneliness and find her ideal companion.
