The Sutherland Cemetery, located at Bee, Dickenson County, Virginia was founded in 1889. In the early days it was known as the Compton Cemetery named for Jeremiah Compton Jr., pioneer settler of Abner's Branch. There are at least one hundred and sixteen people interred at the cemetery presently. Nearly every person buried here has a direct connection to the Jeremiah Compton Jr. family, the John M.R. Sutherland family or the Henry L. Viers family.
