Recovering the past of Furniture City More than two centuries of overlooked history flow through Grand Rapids like the river for which it is named. The first city surveyor dabbled in seances while platting out neighborhoods and streets. When a river dredging project left a mountain of stone tormenting residents, the ordeal pitted them against city leaders. Humane society agents uncovered horrendous conditions at the city pound and successfully brought about reform and much better conditions for the animals. Grand Rapids native and city archivist Matthew A. Ellis delves into the layout of streets, the manufacture of materials used to build the city, local food trends, and more.

Michigan established St. Joseph County in 1829. It was a fertile land with an abundance of fresh water supplied by the St. Joseph River. The county's colorful past is the result of forgotten locals and visitors. Hezekiah Thomas fished for diamonds in Corey Lake. Saloon smasher Carrie Nation sold miniature hatchets at the county fairgrounds. The United States Congress recognizes the village of Colon as the Magic Capital of the World, and Lakeside Cemetery is the final resting place of more magicians than any other cemetery on the globe. Author and historian Kelly Pucci digs into the entertaining and often overlooked history of St. Joseph County.

Synopsis: Revealing the Hidden Secrets delves into the mysteries of the Book of the Revelation to John, offering a deeply spiritual message that is both timely in its response to current events and urgent in its plea for the salvation of the world. Author Emad Wissa brings to light amazing details about the Churchs life on earth her history, her times, and her reign. In addition to Church history, the book proposes the spiritual meaning of major historical events, including the three most significant and to the unprepared mind disastrous world events: the rise of Communism; the return of the Jewish people to Israel; and the first battle leading to Armageddon, waged in April, 2003, when America launched its military campaign in Iraq. Why the urgency? The time is very short. Look around and see: in the Land of the Euphrates in the European Union in the Middle East, with its Arab-Israeli conflict and in the developing situation with Iran Then look at the Christian world today, part dead, part lukewarm, and part with a little power. In such a world, the Revelation to John is a clear, loud voice from God, calling for repentance and salvation. Those who ignore His voice do so at their peril, for whether or not they believe in the word of God or even in heaven itself the end-time events will affect everyone.

As a high school history teacher for the past 25 years, I have collected and read hundreds of books pertaining to my subjects taught. On the completion of each book, I would carefully take notes on the most interesting events, quotes, or interpretations that I felt would enhance instruction for my students. After filling numerous notepads of information on over 800 books, I contemplated a project of sharing my most interesting findings. The result of this twenty plus year project is this book. This book is divided into 16 chapters based on the various topics presented. Some chapters contain a small amount of entries such as Nicknames, Espionage, or Labor while chapters on the Presidents or quotes will fill over thirty pages. The first chapter puts emphasis on the role my home state of Alabama has played on the national scene. One chapter is entitled Miscellaneous Odds and Ends due to the subject matter not fitting into any other classification.
