Heritage and Festivals in Europe critically investigates the purpose, reach and effects of heritage festivals. Het EFFE-platform is opgericht met de steun van de EU om de kwaliteit en de diversiteit van de culturele festivals in Europa nog beter in de kijker te plaatsen. Een jury van internationale experts kende aan een uitgelezen selectie van 761 festivals uit 31 landen de eerste EFFE-kwaliteitslabels toe. Eind september 2015 zullen ook de eerste EFFE-awards – de 'oscars' van de culturele festivals – worden uitgereikt in Parijs. Het EFFE-platform, met de website www.effe.eu, wil ook de innovatie in het festivallandschap stimuleren en van Europa een dynamische plek voor diversiteit, burgerschap en democratie maken.
