A genealogy of the descendants of Henry Rader who came from Germany to Pennsylvania, then to North Caroline. He died in 1779. He was married to Elizabeth and they had three sons, Adam, William, and Conrad and one daughter, Catharine.

"Henry Rader died in the Civil War" contains his ancestors, his wifes ancestors, and his children and their descendants. The majority of the book is set in Greene County Tennessee from 1800 thruthe 1940s

Henry Rader was born 28 April 1823 in Fairfield County, Ohio. His parents were Henry Rader and Catherine Propst. He married Martha Jane Dayringer 26 September 1845 in Hancock County, Ohio. Descendants and relatives lived mainly in Ohio.

This volume concentrates on Henry Bishop Sr., and his wife Francis "Fanny" Simpkins Bishop, and their many descendants. Henry was the son of Hans Johannes Bischoff and Margaretha Overmeyer, and settled in the Floyd County Virginia area as a child with his parents. His family remained there, and many of his descendants are in that area to this day. The major sources for this volume have been Mrs. Joyce Buckert, of Illinois, she published the first and most well know volume about Henry and his descendants, and much of the information contained in this volume utilizes her information (with her permission) as well as quite a few updates that Ms. Buckert has been so kind as to provide. Of course, anyone researching the Descendants of Henry Bishop and Fanny Simpkins should absolutely refer to Ms. Buckert's original publication as well as utilizing this volume to supplement the research for any additional, later added, information.

Gerhard Etter (1718-1783) immigrated from Switzerland to Palmyra, Pennsylvania before 1750, and married Catherine Bang. Descendants and relatives lived in Pennsylvania, Virginia, Indiana, Illinois, Missouri, Nebraska and elsewhere.

Among various ancestors, the most prominent families are the descendants of Johann Adam Roder (1669?-1721) and Anna Katharina Diebert Tauber (1670-1751) of Switzerland and Mutterstadt, Bavaria; Casper Rotter/ Rader (1732-1812) and Regina Gerhardt (1746-1816) of Berks County, Pennsylvania and Wythe County, Virginia; and George Rader (1750-1815) of Pennsylvania and Highland County, Ohio.
