Gargoyles are not what you think... Sten's ship crashed on Earth centuries ago, and since then, he's been hiding in plain sight, awaiting rescue. But a thousand years is a long time to go without companionship, even for a long-lived alien, and the human female he's guarded since childhood has grown into an alluring woman. When a mysterious man offers to buy the "statue" in Angie's garden, Sten knows he's been discovered. The Rose Syndicate has hunted his kind for centuries, capturing and torturing his fellow Khargals in the name of science. But simply fleeing isn't an option; Angie has a secret. One he's sworn to protect. Forced to reveal himself, Sten is confronted with a new truth. Impossible as it seems, Angie is his mate. And the urge to claim her may be his undoing. STICKS AND STONES is a standalone story in the collaborative Khargals of Duras series, with no cliffhangers and a guaranteed HEA. Enjoy the books in any order!

The origin of granite has for long fascinated geologists though serious debate on the topic may be said to date from a famous meeting of the Geological Society of France in 1847. My own introduction to the subject began exactly one hundred years later when, in an interview with Profes sor H. H. Read, I entered his study as an amateur fossil collector and left it as a committed granite petrologist - after just ten minutes! I can hardly aspire to convert my reader in so dramatic a way, yet this book is an attempt, however inadequate, to pass on the enthusiasm that I inherited, and which has been reinforced by innumerable discussions on the outcrop with granitologists of many nationalities and of many shades of opinion. Since the 1960s, interest in granites has been greatly stimulated by the thesis that granites image their source rocks in the inaccessible deep crust, and that their diversity is the result of varying global tectonic context. So great a body of new data and new ideas has accumulated that my attempt to review the whole field of granite studies must carry with it a possible charge of arrogance, especially as I have adopted the teaching device of presenting the material from a personal point of view with its thinly disguised prejudices.

The Book of Stone examines the evolution of the terrorist mentality and the complexities of religious extremism, as well as how easily a vulnerable mind can be exploited for dark purposes. Matthew Stone has inherited a troubling legacy: a gangster grandfather and a distant father—who is also a disgraced judge. After his father’s death, Matthew is a young man alone. He turns to his father’s beloved books for comfort, perceiving within them guidance that leads him to connect with a group of religious extremists. As Matthew immerses himself in this unfamiliar world, the FBI seeks his assistance to foil the group’s violent plot. Caught between these powerful forces, haunted by losses past and present, and desperate for redemption, Matthew charts a course of increasing peril—for himself and for everyone around him. Lyrical and incendiary, The Book of Stone is a masterfully crafted novel that reveals the ambiguities of “good” and “evil”.
