Records of the settlers of Northern Montgomery, Robertson and sumner Counties, Tennessee.

Daniel Burford, son of William Burford, was born about 1684 in Virginia. His mother's name is unknown. He married Sarah Miles about 1710 in Gloucester County, Virginia. They had 10 children. Daniel died about 1756 in King William County, Virginia. His ancestors came from England, and his descendants have lived in Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Alabama, and other areas throughout the United States.

Andrew Roberts (ca. 1657-1722) moved to New Bern, North Carolina about 1713, moving later to Craven County, North Carolina. Descendants and relatives lived in North Carolina, Tennessee, Kentucky, Illinois, Nebraska, Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, California and elsewhere.

This land was first settled in 1819 when the western portion of the state was being opened for settlement. This book is not too different from other county history books of this era. With such topics as trade and transportation, labor, farming, politics, and race relations - all important in the development of the county - are discussed. This type of county history book can help one develop ideas or paths to those missing ancestors by showing the customs and traditions of the local residents.
