I was inspired to write this book after a career as an investigative reporter for The Hartford Courant for more than four decades and then afterward as a freelance newsman. Once I started writing, I couldn't stop. It was simultaneously the most difficult, yet inspiring tasks of my life. Editors, news sources and subjects constantly looked over my shoulder.
