Available online: https://pub.norden.org/politiknord2021-719/ The Ministers for Nordic Co-operation (MR-SAM) have decided that the Nordic Council of Ministers will co-operate with civil society in the Nordic Region to a greater extent in its work relating to the Our Vision 2030 programme and the action plan for 2021-2024. Consequently, both a Nordic network for involving civil society organisations and a procedure for public consultations are being established to increase the opportunities for input from civil society, business and industry, and other stakeholders in the Nordic Region in respect of the Nordic Council of Ministers’ efforts to implement Our Vision 2030.

Available online: https://pub.norden.org/politiknord2022-724/ In 2019, the Nordic prime ministers adopted a vision for the Nordic Region to be the most sustainable and integrated region in the world by the year 2030. The Nordic Council of Ministers was tasked with steering Nordic co-operation towards delivering this vision. The Nordic Council of Ministers is following a special action plan in its efforts relating to the vision for the period 2021 to 2024. Now, after almost two years, a mid-point evaluation has been produced. Despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic and the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine during the period, the Nordic Council of Ministers has delivered concrete results and made an impact. The activities of the Nordic Council of Ministers are being steered towards supporting the Nordic countries as well as possible in their realisation of the vision. Efforts relating to the green transition have been bolstered by way of DKK 120 million in additional funding thanks to a budget redistribution in the period 2021 to 2024. The mid-point evaluation was approved by the Ministers for Nordic Co-operation in September 2022.

This book examines the implications of Article 12 of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD), its resulting standard of protection for persons with disabilities and the way it is understood and implemented in its diverse signatory states. Its overarching theme is to assess the impact of CRPD Article 12 on the private law concept of legal capacity and its limitations, the significance of which carries over into the realm of penal law regulations. Its impact is analysed primarily from the legal point of view, but with due regard for its psychological and psychiatric ramifications. Recognising the importance of these disciplines is important when implementing CRPD Article 12 into domestic law, as they contribute to the determinants in creating a qualificatory legal framework for all, persons with disabilities in particular, to exercise their rights to legal capacity without let or hindrance. As active legal capacity is a notion rooted in and coming from private law, this forms the main research perspective. The first section discusses the foundational concepts constituting the CRPD Article 12 standard from domestic private law and international law perspectives. The work shows that the concepts adopted in private law interact with the protection of persons with disabilities as victims provided for in criminal law. In addition, where relevant, authors also look at public law institutions that are connected with the private law solutions. The volume will be an essential reference for academics, researchers and policy-makers working in the areas of private law, criminal law, mental health law, human rights, discrimination law as well as psychology and psychiatry.

As a small, open economy, Mauritius needs a well-performing regulatory system that provides necessary protections while enabling the development of trade and investment and limiting administrative burdens. A robust regulatory impact assessment (RIA) framework can enhance Mauritius’ business environment and attractiveness as a trade and investment partner.

The COVID-19 pandemic has made clear the cataclysmic health threats of a rapidly globalizing world and the limitations of domestic law and policy in addressing economic, social, and political determinants of health. No country acting on its own can stem major health hazards that go well beyond national borders. Where national laws cannot reach threats beyond national borders, global law is necessary to promote health and justice. If globalization has presented global challenges to disease prevention and health promotion, global health law offers the promise of bridging national boundaries to promote health and reduce health inequities"--

Delivering on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) is a formidable governance challenge for countries at all levels of development. It requires governments to co-ordinate, consult and work across policy areas – as well as with the businesses sector and civil society – in an unprecedented way. This report provides evidence from OECD countries and partner economies on how public governance practices can be strengthened to help implement the SDGs. It looks at whole-of-government co-ordination, policy coherence and integrity, stakeholder engagement and open government, and the strategic use of budgeting, procurement and regulatory tools.
