Anthology of left wing grapics, especially posters and magazines, in Argentina from 1890-2001. A helpful chronology is included.

The conference theme was dedicated to the study of the function of art in politics. The present edition compiles the 30 research works divided in 3 sub-topics: Poderes, Cuerpos y Espacios (Powers, Bodies and Spaces); Batallas por el Imaginario (Battles for the Imaginary) and Resistencia y Representación (Resistance and Representation).

Visual Propaganda, Exhibitions, and the Spanish Civil War is a history of art during wartime that analyzes images in various media that circulated widely and were encountered daily by Spaniards on city walls, in print, and in exhibitions. Tangible elements of the nation?s past?monuments, cultural property, and art-historical icons?were displayed in temporary exhibitions and museums, as well as reproduced on posters and in print media, to rally the population, define national identity, and reinvent distant and recent history. Artists, political-party propagandists, and government administrators believed that images on the street, in print, and in exhibitions would create a community of viewers, brought together during the staging of public exhibitions to understand their own roles as Spaniards. This book draws on extensive archival research, brings to light unpublished documents, and examines visual propaganda, exhibitions, and texts unavailable in English. It engages with questions of national self-definition and historical memory at their intersections with the fine arts, visual culture, exhibition history, tourism, and propaganda during the Spanish Civil War and immediate post-war period, as well as contemporary responses to the contested legacy of the Spanish Civil War. It will be of interest to scholars in art history, visual and cultural history, history, and museum studies.

Eva Peron (1919-1952) was the First Lady of Argentina from 1946 until her death in 1952. Often referred to as "Evita," she was never an officially elected political figure, but by her husband's second term as President, she had become the most powerful woman in the history of her nation. By the 1960s, Evita was an international pop-culture icon; in the 1970s, Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice wrote the blockbuster musical Evita about her; and in the mid-90s, the musical was adapted to a movie starring Madonna. This small, chunky paperback features all manner of vintage graphic treatments from the era of Evita--from candid portraits with her husband and two poodles to futuristic airplane designs to children's books which used the letters of her name to teach spelling. The changes in the life of households based on the Colombian Longitudinal Survey (ELCA) by Universidad de los Andes. The Colombian Longitudinal Survey by the Universidad de los Andes (ELCA by its acronym in spanish), is the first survey of this type that has been undertaken in Colombia, and that has, to date, three rounds: the baseline in 2010, the first followup round in 2013, and the second follow-up round in 2016. The project is being developed by the Department of Economics and its objective is to contribute to research on the country by using unique sources of information that allow for a more precise analysis to be undertaken on the dynamics of households and the changes in their quality of life over time. Over a decade, ELCA aims to follow more than ten thousand households in urban and rural zones in Colombia; until now there have been six follow-up years.
