Realizado por un equipo de profesores del Instituto de Traductores e Intérpretes de la Universidad Complutense de Madrid, el presente Glosario multilingüe constituye un instrumento de trabajo imprescindible para todos aquellos, noveles o avezados, que requieran la traducción de cualquier término jurídico o económico al alemán, al francés, al inglés o al italiano. La experiencia de los autores en el ámbito de la traducción y su enseñanza les ha permitido establecer un corpus léxico útil y completo, así como dar soluciones a las dificultades que plantea la pertenencia a distintas familias jurídicas, lo que se traduce en ocasiones en la inexistencia de términos equivalentes en determinadas lenguas o la inexistencia del hecho jurídico en sí. En definitiva, una traducción de más de 2.000 términos a cuatro lenguas que facilitará la labor de profesionales, estudiantes y profesores de la traducción, el derecho y la economía. Se incorpora un CD que permitirá realizar búsquedas de los términos de interés en cualquiera de los idiomas de una manera rápida y sencilla.

From today’s vantage point it can be denied that the confidence in the abilities of globalism, mobility, and cosmopolitanism to illuminate cultural signification processes of our time has been severely shaken. In the face of this crisis, a key concept of this globalizing optimism as World Literature has been for the past twenty years necessarily is in the need of a comprehensive revision. World Literature, Cosmopolitanism, Globality: Beyond, Against, Post, Otherwise offers a wide range of contributions approaching the blind spots of the globally oriented Humanities for phenomena that in one way or another have gone beyond the discourses, aesthetics, and political positions of liberal cosmopolitanism and neoliberal globalization. Departing basically (but not exclusively) from different examples of Latin American literatures and cultures in globalized contexts, this volume provides innovative insights into critical readings of World Literature and its related conceptualizations. A timely book that embraces highly innovative perspectives, it will be a mustread for all scholars involved in the field of the global dimensions of literature.

An edited group of 21 papers on urban change; in addition, the author contributed the four initial chapters on theoretical methods. The remaining papers consider factors of urban change, mostly for the latter part of the 20th century, for countries in Europe, the Americas, South Africa, and Asia. Themes include migration, population change, and the impact of political change. The international group of contributors is made up of academics in geography, urban and regional planning, and demography.

The view of translation as a socially regulated activity has opened up a broad field of research in the last few years. This volume deals with central questions of the new domain and aims to contribute to the conceptualisation of a general sociology of translation. Interdisciplinary in approach, it discusses the role of major representatives of sociology like Pierre Bourdieu, Bruno Latour, Bernard Lahire, Anthony Giddens or Niklas Luhmann in establishing a theoretical framework for a sociology of translation. Drawing on methodologies from sociology and integrating them into translation studies, the book questions some of the established categories in this discipline and calls for a redefinition of long-assumed principles. The contributions show the social involvement of translation in various fields and focus especially on the translator s position in an emerging sociology of translation, Bourdieu s influence in conceptualising this new sub-discipline, methodological questions and a sociologically oriented meta-discussion of translation studies.

Corpus-based translation studies has become a major paradigm and research methodology and has investigated a wide variety of topics in the last two decades. The contributions to this volume add to the range of corpus-based studies by providing examples of some less explored applications of corpus analysis methods to translation research. They show that the area keeps evolving as it constantly opens up to different frameworks and approaches, from appraisal theory to process-oriented analysis, and encompasses multiple translation settings, including (indirect) literary translation, machine (assisted)-translation and the practical work of professional legal translators. The studies included in the volume also expand the range of application of corpus applications in terms of the tools used to accomplish the research tasks outlined.

Translation Studies has recently been searching for connections with Cultural Studies and Sociology. This volume brings together a range of ways in which the disciplines can be related, particularly with respect to research methodologies. The key aspects covered are the agents behind translation, the social histories revealed by translations, the perceived roles and values of translators in social contexts, the hidden power relations structuring publication contexts, and the need to review basic concepts of the way social and cultural systems work. Special importance is placed on Community Interpreting as a field of social complexity, the lessons of which can be applied in many other areas. The volume studies translators and interpreters working in a wide range of contexts, ranging from censorship in East Germany to English translations in Gujarat. Major contributions are made by Agnès Whitfield, Daniel Gagnon, Franz Pöchhacker, Michaela Wolf, Pekka Kujamäki and Rita Kothari, with an extensive introduction on methodology by Anthony Pym.
