A presente obra é uma coletânea de textos oriundos de pesquisas sobre a Educação Profissional e Tecnológica articulados entre si por meio do eixo temático de seu subtítulo: a extensão e a cultura como dimensões constituintes de suas práticas pedagógicas e formadoras de concepções educacionais. Produtos dos trabalhos de pesquisa de docentes do Ceeteps, do Instituto Federal, da Unifesp, entre outras instituições, e de pós-graduandos em Gestão e Desenvolvimento da Educação Profissional, os capítulos, em conjunto, compõem uma profícua abordagem cuja estrutura foi concebida por seus organizadores a partir dos elementos presentes no tripé ensino, pesquisa e extensão. As dimensões filosófica, histórica, política e sociológica estão contempladas nas abordagens conduzidas pelos autores, possibilitando ao leitor uma mirada que toma a Educação Profissional e Tecnológica e suas conexões com o mundo do trabalho e com a Ciência e Tecnologia (C&T) para além do tecnicismo pedagógico, do pragmatismo filosófico e do utilitarismo econômico. Encontram-se atualmente na literatura sobre gestão de pessoas alguns trabalhos, desenvolvidos por diferentes autores, que buscam retratar problemas e desconfortos presentes no cotidiano das pessoas que podem reduzir sua produtividade e gerar conflitos e aborrecimentos. Por conseguinte, este trabalho busca abordar as consequências que os ruídos acima do normal, ou seja, 50 dB, acarretam ao ser humano. Observam-se na cidade de Manaus, em áreas residenciais, muitas edificações que se destinam ao lazer, diversão, alimentação e outros. Conquanto seja da natureza humana e pertinente ao cidadão o direito ao lazer, tais usos deverão respeitar a vizinhança, garantindo níveis de pressão sonora confortáveis, que expressem a normalidade dessas comunidades.

As Brazil is massively investing in a scale-up of in vocational education and training (VET) through the national flagship program, PRONATEC, this report assesses institutions and policies in VET taking an in depth critical view of upcoming opportunities. It shares international best practices on selected operational issues identified as strategic bottlenecks for the delivery of technical education. The report explores multiple sources of information including a desk review of existing reports and papers, inputs/data provided by the Ministry of Education and interviews with multiple stakeholders and practitioners at the federal and state level. The report highlights the need of promoting a better alignment between the supply and demand of skills at the sub national level and of promoting better a solid monitoring and evaluation system, including the monitoring of student learning and of the trajectories into the labor market or into higher educational degrees. Issues of student career guidance and teacher quality also emerge as areas of strategic importance to the Brazilian VET system in the years ahead. We conclude with specific policy recommendations for PRONATEC.
