The history of spin in general, and of the nucleon spin structure in particular, has been full of surprises. For the past 25 years deep inelastic lepton scattering has been studied to determine the carriers of the nucleon spin. However, it was realized only recently that a full understanding of the nucleon spin will also require detailed information on the helicity structure in the resonance region, i.e. in the realm of nonperturbative QCD.This volume gives a status report on the spin structure in the nucleon resonance region, focusing on: new experimental results from SLAC and HERMES; a first glance at the JLab experiments to map out the spin structure functions at low and intermediate four-momentum transfers; the pioneering experiment at MAMI (Mainz) to determine the Gerasimov-Drell-Hearn sum rule for real photons; and recent theoretical concepts and investigations to describe the spin structure in the frameworks of higher twist expansion, phenomenological models and chiral perturbation theory.

This volume contains the proceedings of the GDH 2002 symposium. It is a review of the most recent results on the nucleon spin structure and related sum rules using real and virtual photons. The latest theoretical developments and the new high precision data from different laboratories are presented and discussed. The book provides a comprehensive picture of the nucleon spin studies from the perturbative domain down to the resonance and low momentum transfer region.

A ‘textbook’ plant typically comprises about 85% waterand 13.5% carbohydrates. The remaining fraction contains at least14 mineral elements, without which plants would be unable tocomplete their life cycles. Understanding plant nutrition and applying this knowledge topractical use is important for several reasons. First, anunderstanding of plant nutrition allows fertilisers to be used morewisely. Second, the nutritional composition of crops must betailored to meet the health of humans and livestock. Third, manyregions of the world are currently unsuitable for crop production, and an understanding of plant nutrition can be used to developstrategies either for the remediation of this land or for thecultivation of novel crops. That application of knowledge of plant nutrition can be achievedthrough genotypic or agronomic approaches. Genotypic approaches, based on crop selection and / or breeding (conventional or GM),have recently begun to benefit from technological advances, including the completion of plant genome sequencing projects. Thisbook provides an overview of how plant nutritional genomics, defined as the interaction between a plant's genome and itsnutritional characteristics, has developed in the light ofthese technological advances, and how this new knowledge mightusefully be applied. This is a book for researchers and professionals in plantmolecular genetics, biochemistry and physiology, in both theacademic and industrial sectors.

The motion and deformation of rocks are processes of fundamental importance in shaping the Earth, from outer crustal layers to the deep mantle. Reconstructions of the evolution of the Earth therefore require detailed knowledge of the geometry of deformation structures and their relative timing, of the motions leading to deformation structures and of the mechanisms governing these motions. This volume contains a collection of 22 papers on field, experimental and theoretical studies that add to our knowledge of these processes.

Examines the benefits of tea and its components, ranging from the anti-microbial to the anti-oxidant. Components such as catechins, theaflavins, polysaccharides, and others have been isolated and may have putative protective effects and modulate the biochemistry of a variety of cell types. 128 chapters explore improvements in the cardiovascular system, the brain, and other organs, and looks at possible applications in other disease areas --
