Knowledge Services Management looks at the transformation of the traditional workplace into a quasi-internal market environment where work activities in knowledge services are organized around clusters of similar or complementary knowledge stocks to address particular types of customer-clients priorities. The book explores a new internal market structure for these service organizations and the implications this presents for managers and scholars in the 21st century workplace. By adopting an internal market perspective, the book develops new organizational forms outside the traditional hierarchical paradigm, which is ill-suited for the emerging knowledge workplace, in order to effectively manage emerging knowledge services. The indispensable role of customer/client in the operations of these organizations is examined, as is the creation of the “Proventure Workplace”, a work environment which accentuates jobs requiring rich cognitive skills for continuing innovation and creativity.

Techniques of Functional Analysis for Differential and Integral Equations describes a variety of powerful and modern tools from mathematical analysis, for graduate study and further research in ordinary differential equations, integral equations and partial differential equations. Knowledge of these techniques is particularly useful as preparation for graduate courses and PhD research in differential equations and numerical analysis, and more specialized topics such as fluid dynamics and control theory. Striking a balance between mathematical depth and accessibility, proofs involving more technical aspects of measure and integration theory are avoided, but clear statements and precise alternative references are given . The work provides many examples and exercises drawn from the literature. - Provides an introduction to mathematical techniques widely used in applied mathematics and needed for advanced research in ordinary and partial differential equations, integral equations, numerical analysis, fluid dynamics and other areas - Establishes the advanced background needed for sophisticated literature review and research in differential equations and integral equations - Suitable for use as a textbook for a two semester graduate level course for M.S. and Ph.D. students in Mathematics and Applied Mathematics

This textbook is a completely revised, updated, and expanded English edition of the important Analyse fonctionnelle (1983). In addition, it contains a wealth of problems and exercises (with solutions) to guide the reader. Uniquely, this book presents in a coherent, concise and unified way the main results from functional analysis together with the main results from the theory of partial differential equations (PDEs). Although there are many books on functional analysis and many on PDEs, this is the first to cover both of these closely connected topics. Since the French book was first published, it has been translated into Spanish, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Romanian, Greek and Chinese. The English edition makes a welcome addition to this list.

Many mathematical models of physical, biological and social systems involve partial differential equations (PDEs). The desire to understand and influence these systems naturally leads to considering problems of control and optimization. This book presents important topics in the areas of control of PDEs and of PDE-constrained optimization, covering the full spectrum from analysis to numerical realization and applications. Leading scientists address current topics such as non-smooth optimization, Hamilton–Jacobi–Bellmann equations, issues in optimization and control of stochastic partial differential equations, reduced-order models and domain decomposition, discretization error estimates for optimal control problems, and control of quantum-dynamical systems. These contributions originate from the “International Workshop on Control and Optimization of PDEs” in Mariatrost in October 2011. This book is an excellent resource for students and researchers in control or optimization of differential equations. Readers interested in theory or in numerical algorithms will find this book equally useful.

This monograph is devoted to the effect of delays on the stability properties of dynamical systems. Stability regions with respect to the delay parameters are considered, and some sufficient characterizations are proposed. This monograph addresses general delay problems and offers solutions in some cases. In other cases, approximations of the stability regions can be proposed. The interpretation of delays as uncertainty allows the authors to use the advances in robust control and robust convex optimization to solve or to approximate the solutions of the corresponding problems.
