This tribute to the poets was born in March 2020, during the beginning weeks of California's stay-at-home orders for the COVID-19 pandemic. Poets Underground, a community of poets who perform weekly at Amplified Ale Works Acid Vault room in San Diego, continued to meet online, expressing their raw emotions and hardships in lockdown. The intense missing of in-person connections led to the coining of the catch phrase and title of this anthology. Divided into five sections, each dealing with different phases of the challenges the pandemic created, this volume features 134 poems from 72 poets. With shifts in the political and the emotional since April, these poems reflect only the first month of lockdown, and life in the world post-COVID-19.

This book examines sex worker health and the concept of care among sex workers in Rhode Island using mixed methods research conceived of and led by Ocean State Advocacy (O$A), a grassroots collective of sex workers in Rhode Island. Drawing upon survey data, in-depth interview research, as well as ethnographic and grounded theory principle, this text provides a nuanced look at why sex workers face disparate health outcomes, what defines the area of sex worker health, and practices of care that exist among sex workers in Rhode Island. Throughout this book, the authors examine how criminalization and stigma impact care and why sex workers find themselves in a distinctly challenging position when trying to stay healthy and well. Throughout this book, the authors explore both these vulnerabilities and sources of strength among the sex work community with the goal of gaining a better understanding of what sex workers in Rhode Island need for a healthier future. Sex work studies have seen an expansion in publications over the past decade, drawing together disciplines from across the social sciences, namely sociology, criminology and social policy. There has, however, been a tendency for research and writing to focus on the more obvious aspect of the sex industry - the visible elements of female street prostitution and those features which attract media attention such as the criminalised aspects of the sex trade. The sex industry is diverse in terms of its organisation, presentation, participants and how it is located in the broader context of globalisation and regulation; there is a need for publications which demonstrate this breadth.
