Gospel-Centered Theology for Today Evangelical Theology, Second Edition helps today's readers understand and practice the doctrines of the Christian faith by presenting a gospel-centered theology that is accessible, rigorous, and balanced. According author Michael Bird the gospel is the fulcrum of Christian doctrine; the gospel is where God meets us and where we introduce the world to God. And as such, an authentically evangelical theology is the working out of the gospel in the various doctrines of Christian theology. The text helps readers learn the essentials of Christian theology through several key features, including: A "What to Take Home" section at end of every part that gives readers a run-down on all the important things they need to know. Tables, sidebars, and questions for discussion to help reinforce key ideas and concepts A "Comic Belief" section, since reading theology can often be dry and cerebral, so that readers enjoy their learning experience through some theological humor added for good measure. Now in its second edition, Evangelical Theology has proven itself in classrooms around the world as a resource that helps readers not only understand the vital doctrines of Christian theology but one that shows them how the gospel should shape how they think, pray, preach, teach, and minister in the world.

Evangelical Theology is a systematic theology written from the perspective of a biblical scholar. Michael F. Bird contends that the center, unity, and boundary of the evangelical faith is the evangel (= gospel), as opposed to things like justification by faith or inerrancy. The evangel is the unifying thread in evangelical theology and the theological hermeneutic through which the various loci of theology need to be understood. Using the gospel as a theological leitmotif—an approach to Christian doctrine that begins with the gospel and sees each loci through the lens of the gospel—this text presents an authentically evangelical theology, as opposed to an ordinary systematic theology written by an evangelical theologian. According to the author, theology is the drama of gospelizing—performing and living out the gospel in the theatre of Christian life. The text features tables, sidebars, and questions for discussion. The end of every part includes a “What to Take Home” section that gives students a run-down on what they need to know. And since reading theology can often be dry and cerebral, the author applies his unique sense of humor in occasional “Comic Belief” sections so that students may enjoy their learning experience through some theological humor added for good measure.

Athletes dont suit up just to sit on the sidelines while others play the game, yet week after week, Christians suit up at church just to watch others perform. Do you find yourself sitting on this proverbial bench, off to the side while others share the gospel? Do you want to get into the game but think that its better left to professionals or to people with more experience? Evangelism on the Go! shows you that the greatest discovery you can ever make in your spiritual life is how God wants to use you to reach other people, and it will give you insights into how you can become a powerful witness for Christ. Author and pastor Michael McGuire provides both spiritual and practical steps you can take to search for opportunities to tell others about Christ, and by developing a sensitivity to the Holy Spirits guidance, you too can have the joy of seeing others commit their lives to becoming followers of Christ. You do not have to become a professional minister before God can use you to share the gospel, and seeing others come to Christ is one of the most exciting parts of the Christian life. So dont let fear bench you and keep you out of the game. If you want to overcome fear and grow in your faith, you must give it away.
