Freedoms Vector: The Path to Prosperity, Opportunity and Dignity, is a book about Americaits government, its institutions, and its people. It is about a nation blessed with the finest system of governance ever devised. It is about a country that has outgrown its institutions and is in need of reconditioning. It is about a people who have been losing their faith and are waiting for a new call to greatness. Our country can recapture the spirit of 76, if we bring our better virtues and a sense of responsibility to bear upon the task. If our leaders reform their economics. If money and power do not stand in the way of freedom and democracy. If you love America, I think you will like this book. If you read this book, I think it may surprise and educate you. It may even annoy you. If it does, and you are inspired to craft a better plan for your country, I will have achieved my purpose in putting these pages between two covers.

Portrayed by MacIean’s magazine as a rogue Canadian diplomat in support of the youth opposition during the Arab spring in Syria, Dr. Bruce Mabley has written over a hundred texts on contemporary international political and diplomatic issues. Decorated by the French Republic (Palmes académiques), this former diplomat, professor and political philosopher has reunited a collection of compelling articles on current international questions: war in Ukraine, China’s growing empire, Israel and Palestine, Haiti, Turkey. Developments in the Americas include US– Canada relations, the Lima Group and Haiti. A progressive opponent of wokism, political boyarysme and traditional political elites, the book argues for an urgent recalibration and democratization of diplomatic theory and practice based on people-to-people links. Encouraging independence movements in Québec, Scotland and Catalonia, the book is also a plea for international education, empowerment and accountability in international policy development.

"Freedom of choice is the subject. "How dare you!" challenged Greta Thunberg. The members of the Climate Summit had freedom of choice to act on the scientific evidence she presented rather than on personal desire. What is the difference between acting on desire and acting on what you prefer because of scientific acceptance? There is a form of preference that is an ultimate explanation of choice. I call it a power preference. It is a preference that loops back on to itself, a fixed-point vector, and suffices to explain human agency. The power preference includes scientific explanation and is compatible with determinism"--

Non-nucleonic degrees of freedom in the nucleus must be understood in the nucleonic framework of nucleus in relation with the structure of the nucleons from which mesons are emitted to link the nucleons, and with isobars, mesonic exchange currents, and underlying conservation laws. This topical volume sheds light on these highly exciting non-nucleonic effects extracted as the result of interplay among the constituents including quarks, and on the limit of applicability of various conservation laws.

This book is a technical publication for students, scholars and engineers in electrical engineering, focusing on the pulse-width-modulation (PWM) technologies in power electronics area. Based on an introduction of basic PWM principles this book analyzes three major challenges for PWM on system performance: power losses, voltage/current ripple and electromagnetic interference (EMI) noise, and the lack of utilization of control freedoms in conventional PWM technologies. Then, the model of PWM's impact on system performance is introduced, with the current ripple prediction method for voltage source converter as example. With the prediction model, two major advanced PWM methods are introduced: variable switching frequency PWM and phase-shift PWM, which can reduce the power losses and EMI for the system based on the prediction model. Furthermore, the advanced PWM can be applied in advanced topologies including multilevel converters and paralleled converters. With more control variables in the advanced topologies, performance of PWM can be further improved. Also, for the special problem for common-mode noise, this book introduces modified PWM method for reduction. Especially, the paralleled inverters with advanced PWM can achieve good performance for the common-mode noise reduction. Finally, the implementation of PWM technologies in hardware is introduced in the last part.

Does a machine run well by virtue of its accuracies, or its freedoms? This work presents an exciting, diagrammatic display of the hidden geometry of freedom and constraint. It bolsters the imaginative design of robots, but applies across all fields of machinery. The figures and their captions comprise alone a self-standing story, and this connects effectively with the rigorously argued text. The seamless combination of the two volumes (1984, 1990) renders the internal cross-referencing (forward and backward within the volumes) easier to look up. The appearance of this paperback is a clear testament to the work's ongoing readership. The term screw theory occurs throughout. This relates (after Ball) to the book's philosophy; and one might equally mention kinetostatics (after Federhofer). An all-pervading, counter-intuitive fact accordingly presents itself: while, analogously, angular velocity relates to force, linear velocity relates to couple. A direct consequence of Freedom in Machinery is a more recent book by the same author. Specifically titled General Spatial Involute Gearing and published in Germany (2003), it exemplifies the many ways in which Freedom in Machinery clarifies the enigmatic field of spatial mechanism. That field continuously expands with the current, continuous thrust of ordinary engineering practice.
