The City of Waconia is proposing a project to reconstruct TH 5 between west of Oak Avenue and TH 284 from a 2-lane rural section to a 4-lane divided urban section with improved non-motorized facilities. The project also includes new local connections, a new traffic signal at Cherry Street, and access management. The overall objective of the project includes approximately 2-miles of safety and modernization improvements along Highway 44 between Highway 11 and Highway 61 (Chaska Blvd.) in the City of Chaska and a new partial Highway 212 interchange. The project includes reconstruction of the highway from a two-lane undivided to a two-lane divided urban highway.
