Experience the simple joy of a dog’s day at the beach in this vibrant picture book from the acclaimed author-illustrator of Nest, which the New York Times Book Review said was “certain to please aesthetically minded children and adults” and that Shelf Awareness called “a quiet masterpiece.” As with her debut picture book, Nest, “Hurley lets her bright, clean illustrations do her storytelling, limiting the text on each page to a single, evocative word” (Publishers Weekly) in this delightful depiction of a dog’s day at the beach and the joy a simple ball can bring. With minimal prose and illustrations that echo the patterns of nature, Fetch is a story of the thrill of adventure and the joy of returning home.

Do we really leave the past and good friends behind? Fetch is a gripping and emotional short story that explores the darker side of childhood and the power of love and friendship. James Klein's childhood was filled with abuse and terror at the hands of his malevolent father, but his loyal dog was always by his side. As James lies on his deathbed, he recounts the harrowing story of his past and the one constant source of joy in his life - his furry friend who loved nothing more than playing fetch. As the story comes to a close, an eerie twist leaves the reader questioning what is real and what is not. Fetch is a beautifully crafted tale that will leave you feeling haunted yet inspired, and will make you question the true meaning of loyalty, love, and friendship. What readers are saying about D.L. Strand's work: "Strand's scenic descriptions and character development are reminiscent of early Steinbeck works. He weaves a delicate path through the psychological and the supernatural worlds." Fetch is the 2nd book in the Storyteller's Pub Featured Shorts series. Warning: Fetch contains scenes of child and animal abuse that may be too intense for some readers.

Edward thought he had picked up a rock. He didn’t know it was a sleeping Time Fetch—and touching it would alter the entire fabric of time and space. Under normal circumstances, a Time Fetch sends out its foragers to collect only those moments that will never be missed or regretted. It then rests, waiting to be called back by the Keeper, who distributes the gathered time where it is needed in our world and others. When eighth-grader Edward innocently mistakes a sleeping Fetch for an ordinary rock, he wakes its foragers too early, and they begin to multiply and gobble up too much time. Soon the bell rings to end class just as it’s begun. Buses race down streets, too far behind schedule to stop for passengers. Buildings and sidewalks begin to disappear, as the whole fabric of the universe starts to unravel. To try and stop the foragers, Edward must depend on the help of his classmates Feenix, Danton, and Brigit—whether he likes it or not. They all have touched the Fetch, and it has drawn them together in a strange and thrilling adventure in which the boundaries between worlds and dimensions are blurred. The places and creatures on the other side are much like the ones they’ve always known—but slightly twisted, a little darker, and much more dangerous.

Dr Blake Alexander is Dr Death What is Fetch a term meaning the meeting of two doppelgängers. "What the-!" said Dr Death seeing a grim reaper, "You can't be here." "Why?" asked the reaper Mortimer curiously. "You know as well as I do," said the doctor. "Yes, you're right, this is ridiculous," said Mortimer. "It is insane," said Dr Death. "Glad you agree," said Mortimer. "Why are you talking to yourself, Dad?" asked the Necromancer, seeing them as he entered the morgue. "I don't know why, boy," said Dr Death, puzzled. "I came to talk to him," said the reaper. "How can you be here, I am you?" said Dr Death. "Oh I forgot to tell me, did I?" said Mortimer. "Yes!" said Dr Death. "I travelled from the future to warn me I am going to die if I don't catch the Necromancer," said Mortimer. "What?" said Dr Death, glaring at his son. "I don't want to hurt you!" said the Necromancer. "Sorry not him the other one," said Mortimer. "What other one?" asked Dr Death. "The fake one," said Mortimer. "I have a copycat?" said the Necromancer, feeling flattered. "He wants to kill me, you psycho," said Dr Death. "Sorry," said the Necromancer. "I got to go," Mortimer said and poofed into thin air. "Wonder where he has to go?" said the Necromancer. "Probably judging himself," said Dr Death. "You said it, not me," said the Necromancer amused. Dr Death glared at him. The copycat kills only Magicians. Dr Blake Alexander and the others set out a trap for the killer he can not resist a stage performance by the leader of the magicians but will Blake survive or will he die as foretold?

A section of sea surface that had been subjected to a constant, offshore wind was profiled using an airborne radar wave profiler. The profiles extended from the coast out a distance of 190 nautical miles. From this data estimates of the spectrum of encounter of the sea surface were obtained for a number of different fetch lengths. By solving a singular Fredholm integral equation of the first kind, it was possible to retrieve the true wave spectrum as a function of fetch length. Spectral growth curves were then obtained and analyzed in light of recent theories of wave generation. The data lend support to the previous conclusions of Snyder and Cox (1966) regarding two recent theories of wave generation. Specifically, the data are consistent with the 'resonance' theory of wave growth (Phillips, 1957), but at the same time suggests that wave growth through an instability mechanism (Miles, 1957) is yet to be understood. One of the most significant results of this study was that higher frequency waves grow past or 'overshoot' their eventual equilibrium energy value. After 'overshooting' they then rapidly decay back to an equilibrium range. (Author).
