Trauma, porn, masturbation, sexuality, sex after motherhood, sex when you feel sh*t about your body, sex after separation... these are all topics around which we skirt delicately, as if they're bombs which will explode if we prod them too curiously. In this way, sex is intimately connected with shame. Like most of us, shame has followed me around for most of my life. I felt shame for the colour of my skin, shame for being female, and shame for wanting more, but I also felt shame around the subject of masturbation. Even as an adult, I carried an intense feeling that masturbation was somehow dirty. I look back on this now and realise how warped our approach to sex is and how the shame that surrounds these conversations holds women back. In this honest and revealing memoir, Natalie Lee digs deep into her own relationship with sex to expose the shame that many of us feel. Taking us through her journey, from traumatic beginnings to marriage, motherhood and eventually experiencing sexual freedom after divorce in her thirties, Feeling Myself is a story of learning to be your true self in a society that doesn't prioritise your pleasure. It is a book for every woman to feel empowered by and to learn the tools to experience their own emancipation too.

Meditations on the Psalms helping women to express their feelings and grow in their faith. Many of us suppress our feelings because we’re worried they are ungodly. Others of us are so led by our emotions that we let them dominate everything, including our faith. In these honest, personal and uplifting meditations on 24 selected psalms, Courtney Reissig looks at emotions we all experience, ranging from shame, anxiety, and anger through to gratitude, hope, and joy. For each, she shows how the psalms give us permission to acknowledge how we feel before God, and how they can help us to use those feelings productively and faithfully. This inspiring book will give women a language to cry out to God in order to help them process their feelings, as well as help them to grow in their faith. Can be used as a daily devotion.

Josh Kilmer-Purcell lived a double life. By day, he was a successful young advertising executive. By night, he would trade in his corporate uniform for high heels and sequins, and perform in downtown New York nightclubs as a drag queen called Acquadisiac before returning to the uptown penthouse he shared with his crack-addicted male escort boyfriend. In this powerfully written, emotional rollercoaster of a memoir, Kilmer-Purcell blends the glittering and highly dramatic world of nightclubs, drugs and drag with a soulful and ironic perspective on his own journey through love and life. Told with a raw and honest voice that conveys hard truths with unflinching courage, I Am Not Myself These Days is a stunningly witty and ultimately deeply moving tour de force by a remarkable talent.

Omnibus: I love myself... and the feeling is mutual/God is confused, He thinks He's Pieter I love myself... and the feeling is mutual Pieter Overduin (Rotterdam, 1969) has suffered from manic-depression for over ten years now. During that time he has kept a diary, consisting of short fragments from his daily life. Probing, moving and at times hilariously funny, Mr Overduin writes about the first signs of the illness and the way he has dealt with it since then. He went through very difficult times for a considerable amount of time but after that he managed to pick himself up again. He also shows what effect the illness had on his family, how the medication affected him and how it enables him to lead an independent life. But without the support of the people closest to him, he would not have made it. God is confused, He thinks He's Pieter Spring, 2004. Pieter enters his publisher's office. 'I've got a new manuscript.' 'Oh no, Pieter, please tell me it's not about manic-depression again.' 'It is.' 'Then it must be very special.' 'It is.' 'In what way?' 'It includes personal accounts of people who are involved in my life.' 'About their feelings and thoughts during your manic episodes?' 'Exactly.' 'That must be very confronting!' 'It is. Why don't you read it and find out.' Again, Pieter Overduin has written a very interesting book. He describes how he suffered from a manic episode after the publication of his first book, in which he believed himself to be Gandhi and God, respectively. The personal accounts of his family, friends and former colleagues also show the other side, how a manic-depressive's illness affects the people closest to him. To them, it feels like a life sentence as well. Just like he did with his first book I love myself... and the feeling is mutual, Pieter has written a fascinating and valuable work. It's written from the heart and very funny.
