This new statistical yearbook replaces four FAO publications (the FAO Bulletin of Statistics and the FAO Production, Trade, and Fertilizer Yearbooks) and is produced in two volumes. This publication is the second volume giving data for each country covering a range of topics covering general/welfare data, agriculture in the economy, resources and resources distribution, production, trade and consumption patterns. The publication includes a mini CD-ROM of the "FAO Statistical Yearbook 2004 Vol. 1/1" in Arabic, Chinese, English, French and Spanish.

This publication offers a synthesis of the major factors at play in the global food and agricultural landscape. Statistics are presented in four thematic chapters, covering the economic importance of agricultural activities, inputs, outputs and factors of production, their implications for food security and nutrition and their impacts on the environment. The Yearbook is meant to constitute a primary tool for policy makers, researchers and analysts, as well as the general public interested in the past, present and future path of food and agriculture.

FAO is launching the new and revised Statistical Yearbook 2012. This publication is the foremost collection and reference point for statistical data on food and agriculture globally. It provides a snapshot of related economic, environmental and social trends and issues. It breaks down a myriad of numbers gathered from around the world into four broad thematic categories: Part 1: The state of the agricultural resource base; Part 2: Hunger dimensions; Part 3: Feeding the world; Part 4: Sustainability dimensions.
