George Washington McCoy, son of James F. McCoy and Elmira Hall, was born in 1846 in Tazewell County, Illinois. He married Sarah Jane Bailey (1856-1951), daughter of James Bailey and Docia Elinor Lucas, in 1871 in Shasta County, California. They had ten children.
