"Excavating Washington, DC: The Discovery of America's Greatest Heroes" is a new book comprised of 200 American heroes of both local and national interest that highlights their extraordinary biographies and accomplishments, while tracing their historical footprints in the Greater Washington, DC Area (including historical sites, homes, buildings, artifacts, and events). It is backed by 10 years and 5,000 hours of research of more than 10,000 historical sources. The significance of the book is that it identifies more than 150 newly discovered surviving historical homes in the Greater DC Area that nobody even knows about that are associated with these American heroes. It also identifies an additional 250 that were once known and documented, but have since been forgotten over time.The subtitle for the finished book is "The Complete Encyclopedia of 200 Heroes." Future releases anticipate to sub-divide the 200 Heroes into smaller and more affordable books and offer special subsets according to different themes and interests (i.e., Revolutionary War Heroes, US Presidents, US Army, Navy, and Air Force Heroes, US Scientists and Inventors, US Explorers, etc).
