Data from MARK 3 on the decay J/? →?−??° are described in terms of amplitudes representing the sequential two-body decay processes J/? →??,??????????. It is found that a complete description requires contributions from excited J{sup PC} = 1−− states in addition to the dominant contribution form the?(770).
