Focusing on Great Britain as a case study of the economic consequences of discrimination against racial minorities, Derek (economics, Manchester Metropolitan U.) and colleagues from elsewhere in the UK address: models of discrimination, the international context of immigration, the wage gap and unemployment in Britain's ethnic communities, self-employment and occupational choice, earnings in the 1970s and 1980s, and staying-on rates in full-time education. They conclude that economists' data and models can offer insights into and guide policy options re: the complexities of economically disadvantaged ethnic groups globally.
