Excerpt: ... four o'clock in the morning, when, after emptying every bottle, or pint-stoup, we parted, much against the wishes of some of us, who would have preferred making out the 24 hours on the ice. We have sometimes indulged in playing on our artificial pond after dinner; and our Preses and others have continued it so long, that we did not muster on the ice at the appointed hour in the morning. The number of keen Curlers with us is very limited; it is only doing them justice, however, to say, that considering their numbers, we have many excellent players. QUERIES FOR CURLERS. Does a Curler, or other person, ever see better with the left than with the right eye; and if so, would closing the left eye be of service in taking an aim? Would blinds that prevented the Curler from seeing to the side, render the view of the object aimed at more concentrated? EDINBURGH CURLING CLUBS, 1833. 1. The Duddingston Society.--In mentioning Societies of Curlers, the Duddingston certainly merits to be placed the first on the list, as containing many members who are highly eminent for scientific knowledge, wealth, respectability, and worth. This Society was instituted in 1795; and at present consists of 167 members. Each member, when on the ice, should be provided with a silver medal, with an appropriate device, and the motto--"Sic Scoti alii non aeque felices." Presidents. Sir Thomas Kirkpatrick. I Rev.
