After their journey above the clouds to the world of the giants, Acer and Airena have returned to the surface. Acer is satisfied with what he’s learned about the giants and the world’s grand design, and Airena found the White Lake her late adventuring companions had been searching for. The two of them have promised to stay together, but with Airena’s responsibilities to the elven caravan and Acer’s ever-growing network of friends, both ancient and young, it seems they can’t settle down just yet. And what’s more, a great power stirring in the Far East threatens to bring an end to everything they’ve worked for...

In the west-central region of the continent, Acer finds himself drawn to the Kingdom of Inelda. While it was once ruled by humans, rumor has it that the region’s elves gathered there and drove the humans out to establish their own nation, seeking protection their forests could not offer against the spread of the Western religion. The elves there ask our high elf to help them build a thriving kingdom for elves that can defend itself against their enemies. Acer promises to stay for ten years before he returns to his search for Win in the Far West.

After finally returning to the center of the continent, Acer’s first and most important visit is to Kaeha’s grave, where he can share with her all the stories of his travels. Her children, grandchildren, and now great-grandchildren carry on her legacy through the Yosogi School. Thanks to Acer’s journey to the Far East, he can bring them the story of Yuzuriha Yosogi and the origin of their school, as well as their lost art of forging katana. He then heads to the home of the high elves in the Forest Depths, which holds the secret to fulfilling his promise to discover the elusive white lake that Airena, Clayas, and Martena had dreamed of. However, Acer is conflicted about returning to his old home after traveling the outside world for nearly a century.

Shortly after Soleil reaches adulthood, she sets out on her own path in life, a road neither Acer nor Airena would have ever anticipated. But they don’t have much time to stew on it, as shortly after her departure, they find themselves leaving Pantarheios as well, heading out to begin reconstruction efforts on the southern continent. After over a hundred years in the south, Acer returns to the north to find it has changed considerably in his absence. The nation of Ludoria is no more, the Yosogi family has become a nation of its own, and the former states of the Azueda Alliance have separated, waged war, and unified again under the name of Azuetta. As always, the world continues to change around him.
