The 2019 Energy Statistics Yearbook is the sixtieth-third issue in a series of annual compilations of internationally comparable statistics summarizing world energy trends. Annual data for 225 countries and areas for the period 2016 to 2019 are presented on production, trade, and consumption of energy: solids, liquids, gaseous fuels, electricity, and heat, covering both renewable and non-renewable sources of energy. In addition, per capita consumption series are also provided for all energy products. Graphs are included to illustrate historic trends and/or changes in composition of production and/or consumption of major energy products. Special tables of interest include: international trade tables for coal, crude petroleum, and natural gas by partner countries - providing information on direction of trade; selected series of statistics on renewables and wastes; refinery distillation capacity; and a table on selected energy resources.

This annual publication provides internationally comparable series of commercial energy statistics summarizing world level and regional energy trends. Annual data for 215 countries and areas for the period 1999 to 2002 are presented on production, trade and consumption of energy in a series of 38 comprehensive tables. In addition, per capita consumption series are also provided for all energy products. Graphs introduce major products showing historic trends and/or changes in composition of production and/or consumption of major products. Special tables of interest include international trade tables for coal, crude petroleum and natural gas by partner countries.

This publication is the fifth in a series of pocketbook compilations on energy statistics designed to highlight the availability of data on various aspects of energy production, transformation and use and its linkages to other key statistics. Energy is central to the achievement of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Paris Agreement on climate change, and sound energy statistics are the basis for the reliable measurement of progress, thereby assisting the formulation of policy measures to achieve international and national sustainable development goals.

The Yearbook presents a comprehensive range of international energy statistics prepared by the United Nations Statistics Division. Its principal objective is to provide a global framework of comparable data for long-term trends in the supply of primary and secondary forms of energy. It contains data for the period 1995-98, and covers each type of fuel and aggregate data for the commercial mix of all types of fuel. Data is given for individual countries and areas, and is summarised into regional and world totals. The basic tables show data for production, trade, stock changes, bunkers, and consumption. In addition, information is included on topics such as: main importers and exporters of coal, crude petroleum and natural gas for 1997-98; the ratio of crude petroleum reserves to petroleum production; and the renewable forms of energy, including electricity generated from hydro, solar, wind, tide, wave and geothermal sources.
