The Elements of the Business of Chemistry is a sister publication of ACC’s premier source of data on the chemical industry, the Guide to the Business of Chemistry. This free publication provides a high-level overview of the chemical industry and highlights the importance of the business of chemistry in the U.S. economy and in enhancing society’s quality of life. The Elements of the Business of Chemistry segments this business into five types of production: basic chemicals, specialty chemicals, agricultural chemicals, pharmaceuticals, and consumer products. Each of these segments has distinct characteristics, growth dynamics, markets, new developments, and issues. This is particularly the case with pharmaceuticals, which is driven by trends in health care.
