Montserrat Abad estudia en el libro las posibles vías para enjuiciar a los combatientes terroristas extranjeros que se unieron a las filas del Estado islámico. El objeto se centra en su persecución por los crímenes de guerra, crímenes contra la humanidad y genocidio cometidos en el conflicto armado transcurrido entre 2014 y 2017 en Iraq. Muestra las carencias y dificultades que existen a este respecto, tanto en lo que se refiere a la jurisdicción internacional como a las nacionales. Además, detecta incongruencias entre distintas resoluciones del Consejo de Seguridad de las Naciones Unidas, sobre todo entre las que se refieren específicamente, de un lado, a los combatientes terroristas extranjeros, y, de otro lado, a los crímenes de atrocidades masivas. Asimismo, se examinan ciertas novedades relevantes en materia de prueba, así como la interrelación de Iraq y Siria a muchos de los efectos considerados.

El poder popular para generar un cambio en sus condiciones social está limitado por su capacidad para separar le verdad de la mentira; pero la tradición religiosa nubla de mitos el entendimiento social, enajenándolo y haciéndolo ingenuo. El presente Tratado señala al Cristianismo como el producto más refinado de ese instrumento institucionalizado del Estado para la dominación ideológica Social, que induciendo ignorancia y temor entre la población, la mantiene en un estado permanente de letargo y en actitud sumisa y dependiente; para entonces manipularla y explotarle con solvencia. Denuncia a una institución responsable de grandes crímenes; y advierte sobre el irreparable daño histórico que el dogma está probando en las formas de convivencia de la sociedad occidental, encausándola hacia una decadencia irreversible. Desentraña las causas objetivas de la religiosidad humana y Revela las trampas psicológicas mediante las que le dogma Cristiano controla y dirige la mente social; proveyendo al lector las armas que le permitirán neutralizar su efecto y alcanzar la emancipación. Entonces exhorta a reconocer que ante la injusticia social debemos -dejando de depender de una connotación divina y de la voluntad de las autoridades sociales-, asumir una participación social activa, madura y responsable.

Enforced disappearance is one of the most serious human rights violations. It constitutes an autonomous offence and a crime under international law on account of its multiple and continuing character. It is not a phenomenon of the past, nor is it geographically limited to Latin America: such scourge is widespread today and on the increase in other continents. For more than twenty-five years, relatives of disappeared people worldwide have insisted on the pressing need for an international legally binding instrument against enforced disappearances. 2006 is the year of the adoption of the International Convention on the Protection of All Persons from Enforced Disappearances, which represents the result of several legislative and jurisprudential developments that are duly analyzed in this book. The Convention has been opened for signature in February 2007.
