Pensar la docencia desde la complejidad educativa. Esta obra reúne una serie de capítulos en los que se abordan temáticas relacionadas con la educación superior desde una mirada académica, destacándose como premisas el pensamiento complejo, las TIC, así como el trabajo estratégico que desempeña el docente como facilitador de procesos de enseñanza y aprendizaje a nivel universitario. Para ello, se toma como contexto la llamada «sociedad de la información y el conocimiento», en donde se ha definido una nueva ordenanza global que deviene en marco de referencia para entender los procesos de transformación que se les requieren a las universidades, en términos de políticas educativas, para la innovación de su currículo, los modelos educativos, como la transformación de las prácticas pedagógicas de sus académicos. Lo obra integra una serie de textos en donde se analiza el fenómeno educativo, con énfasis en el papel que jueganlos docentes en la configuración de ambientes educativos que contribuyan al aprendizaje de sus estudiantes, para lo cual se proponen tres capítulos: «Perspectivas en la educación y el pensamiento complejo», «Comunicación, diversidad y mediación educativa» y «Sujetos de la educación y ámbitos emergentes para la enseñanza». Costa Picazo recopila, traduce y anota las poesías de guerra de cinco poetas ingleses (Edmund Blunden, Robert Graves, Wilfred Owen, Isaac Rosenberg y Siegfried Sassoon) y un grupo de mujeres poetas (Marian Allen, Nora Bomford, Vera Brittain, Eleanor Farjeon, Charlotte Mew, May Sinclair y Elizabeth Underhill, entre otras). Tierra de nadie es un libro acerca de una de las guerras más terribles del siglo XX, en la que más de setenta y cinco millones de hombres fueron movilizados y más de la mitad resultaron muertos o desaparecidos. Es un libro sobre el horror de la guerra y, a pesar del espanto, sobre poesía. La Gran Guerra fue una contienda de trincheras, de dos frentes enemigos separados por un vacío que no era de nadie. Las profundas excavaciones, situadas en lados opuestos, prote-gidas por alambre de púa y ametralladoras, estaban separadas por una extensión de terreno infértil, que la lluvia y el defectuoso sistema de desagües convertían en lodazal. Las trincheras eran un claro ejemplo de deterioro y putrefacción. Allí se amontonaban los vivos y los muertos, estos últimos absorbidos por el fango y todos en medio de las ratas y el hedor. En ese contexto, cinco poetas ingleses (Edmund Blunden, Robert Graves, Wilfred Owen, Isaac Rosenberg y Siegfried Sassoon) y un grupo de mujeres poetas (Marian Allen, Nora Bomford, Vera Brittain, Eleanor Farjeon, Charlotte Mew, May Sinclair y Elizabeth Underhill, entre otras) demostraron que el espíritu humano sobrevive al horror y es capaz de afirmarse en medio del caos, y eternizarse.

V. 2008 The papers in this collection have been selected from over 800 presentations given at the XIIIth World Congress of Comparative Education Societies, held at the University of Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, from 3 to 7 September 2007. The Congress was hosted on behalf of the WCCES by the Mediterranean Society of Comparative Education and in association with the International Association of Intercultural Education. For such an int- national gathering, it was appropriate that the theme chosen was ‘‘Living Together: Education and Intercultural Dialogue’’, providing scope for c- tributions by participating scholars, policy makers and practitioners in e- cation from some 70 countries. The presenters approached contemporary educational issues with knowledge and insights about a world characterized by the tensions and demands of global and local interests, by regional c- ?icts and post-con?ict deliberations, and by the global diaspora, with c- tural, religious and linguistic diversity within both small and large states. Only a very few papers could be included for this collection, but they rep- sent some of the key topics under discussion during the Congress. The papers were selected from the recommendations of the convenors of the 13 Thematic Groups, the keynote addresses and several symposia.

Examining teacher education in an international context, this book captures the diversity of the world's educators. Many countries confront surprisingly similar challenges in preparing K–12 educators for success, while national contexts also make for surprising differences. In Teaching the World's Teachers, education historians Lauren Lefty and James W. Fraser and their contributors make a convincing case for approaching these shared challenges from a more global and historically minded perspective. Written by education scholars from eleven different countries—Argentina, Brazil, Catalonia-Spain, China, England, Finland, Ghana, Israel, Singapore, South Africa, and the United States—this book provides histories of teacher education reforms between roughly 1980 and 2020. The authors show how international trends that emerged during this period collided with national and regional contexts to produce unique teacher education systems in different nations. While in some countries the embrace of markets and competition led to a deregulation of the teacher preparation field, in others teaching became a highly regulated and centralized affair. At the same time, ideas and structural models cross borders and education leaders borrow from each other while reshaping plans in each place. Opening with a broad historical overview of global teacher education models beginning in the late eighteenth century, Teaching the World's Teachers argues that the field has long been characterized by cross-border connections—but shaped by geopolitical hierarchies of power.
