Para demasiadas personas, el corazón del evangelio es que Dios es amor y que ama a todos incondicionalmente. Sin embargo, ni Jesús ni sus apóstoles predicaron jamás así. Parecen haber pensado que el mundo necesitaba conocer su justicia y su deseo, aun su ansia, de compartirla con nosotros. Esto se debe a que está decidido a tener un universo en el que no haya ninguna injusticia. ¿Por qué no creemos que eso es una buena noticia?

"Estos (signos) han sido escritos para que creáis que Jesús es el Mesías, el Hijo de Dios, y para que, creyendo, tengáis en él vida eterna" (Jn 21,31). Juan describe los fines del evangelio por él recogido: suscitar la fe en Jesús, reconociéndolo como el Mesías, el enviado de Dios para la salvación de toda la humanidad; más aún, reconocerlo como el Hijo de Dios, de modo que, una vez habiéndolo aceptado, los creyentes consigan la Vida.
