La monografía que se presenta contiene uno de los resultados del proyecto de investigación Dirección Estratégica en las IES, que aborda el grupo de Planificación y Desarrollo Universitario del Centro de Estudios para el Perfeccionamiento de la Educación Superior de la Universidad de La Habana en conjunto con investigadores y profesores de otras IES del país. Una de las líneas de trabajo de dicho proyecto es precisamente al Control Estratégico en las IES, en la cual se incluye como objetivo el análisis crítico de su tratamiento teórico – conceptual y metodológico, que a nuestro juicio, es una necesidad actual del desarrollo institucional y una perspectiva en construcción que requiere de atención para el mejoramiento continuo de la dirección estratégica universitaria.

Although climate change affects everybody it is not gender neutral. It has significant social impacts and magnifies existing inequalities such as the disparity between women and men in their vulnerability and ability to cope with this global phenomenon. This new textbook, edited by one of the authors of the seminal Women and the Environment in the Third World: Alliance for the Future (1988) which first exposed the links between environmental degradation and unequal impacts on women, provides a comprehensive introduction to gender aspects of climate change. Over 35 authors have contributed to the book. It starts with a short history of the thinking and practice around gender and sustainable development over the past decades. Next it provides a theoretical framework for analyzing climate change manifestations and policies from the perspective of gender and human security. Drawing on new research, the actual and potential effects of climate change on gender equality and women's vulnerabilities are examined, both in rural and urban contexts. This is illustrated with a rich range of case studies from all over the world and valuable lessons are drawn from these real experiences. This publication deals with key issues in land tenure, especially as they relate to food insecurity and rural development situations. Land tenure issues are frequently ignored in rural development interventions, with often long-lasting, negative results. This guide is designed to assist technical officers in governments and civil society in understanding why and how land tenure issues should be considered in rural development projects. It analyses important contexts such as environmental degradation, gender discrimination, and conflicts, where land tenure is currently of critical concern.
